HK rev.2.5 vs. 3
Hi guys, I havent been using watercooling for ages, but would like to do so again, maybe chilled water... (have all the stuff)
I used to use rev 2.5 HeatKiller on LGA775...
Question is; is rev.3 better, and if yes, how much better????
Bonus question is; will mount from rev3 work on rev2.5 ?? I want to use LGA1156
Thanks,
Marc

Hey Marc,
Don't how much the difference is but the rev 3 is really hot here atm while nobody really cared for the former revisions of the Heatkiller.
It's supposed to be about 2ºC better than the FuZion rev 2 to give you an idea.
I think rev3 has it's own mounting and there are backplates available for socket 1336, don't know about 1156 but a little google search will help you out.
By the looks of it i'd say it's the same as socket 1336:

Design appears identical on the inside, difference is that this one has some metal with heatkiller 3.0 in steel on top... :-P

They're very different (no bow, no distributer plate, not very fine cooling channels, much smaller size). The HK 2.5 was one of the worst blocks for quad cores.

A correction to my previous post. The HK 2.5 does have a distributor plate. It's integrated into the mounting "wings". The block consists of two halves. One upper and one lower with the mount sandwiched in between.
