How much Ln2 would you say is used during a session?
Me and a friend is having some ideas of taking the step into Ln2 land... But the prices are quite steep for us here in sweden since we don't have those "special connections" most do.
For example how much Ln2 would you say a Phenom II x4 or Core i7 w/HT uses during a session of say an hour or 2 under some semi-heavy utilization (Super Pi, wPrime, 3Dmark06 etc.)?

2 hours for a brief SuperPi, wPrime and 3D06 run would be maybe 6-8 liters of LN2. It is always best to get more than you will need though, there is nothing worse than running out right at the end of a benchmark.

From what I've read a good estimate is 1L per 10 minutes roughly.

Heh I have a video of me suicide bencing 06 on a cpu of ln2, hilarious even made it through and grabbed screen and submission.

Every Phenom II press sample (not even marked as ES but couple weeks earlier than retail parts) I've tested so far have been worse than normal retails.

Ok thanks, that's abit better than expected to be honest... I've heard 6L for each 3Dmark06 I was like but he must've meent CPU and a few GPUs on Ln2 at the same time I suppose?
6-8L an 2 hour isn't that bad it's even something I could afford to do every now and then.

2h isn't enough for me to get most optimal cpu settings for benching and you want to run spi, wprime and 3mark in this time :O

If you know your chip (pretested with cascade) and ofcourse the rest of the setup, 10-15L is enough for all benchmark. But I would rather advise doing it this way:
1) Get 10L, bench mostly CPU-Z suicide shot, at the end try some simple Pi1M, PiFast and Wprime to get a rough estimate on what frequencies you can expect
2) Get 20-30L, bench all 2D. With what's left try benching some simple 3D, e.g. 3DMark06/Vantage CPU tests.
3) Get 20-30L, bench 3D
Divide your overclocking into stages, it's waaaay more fun. After a couple of sessions you will be able to do everything (2D/3D) in a single session. Start easy & learn as you advance.

Well said
Testing Chips with LN2 can get quite expensive though. In general i also pretest my chips under cascade (expect Phenoms) and only do the real benching stuff und "maxing out" with Ln2. Before you buy Ln2 it would be good to know an approximate frequency your CPU is capable of. But 10l will do the job in most cases like tiborr said if your benching with Ln2 only.
CPU`s dont need that much LN2. But if it comes to GPU´s it´s another story..

Yeah can just agree on this
I mostly use ~50l for 2 days. Fits for 2D Benches and 3D (including GPU cooling)

tiborrr, thanks for the advice, works out well for my 80L dewar The only thing holding me back from LN2 right now is a truck, and it's driving me nuts :O And you know the poorer benchers out there can test under single stage to get a good idea how to own the board and cpu by using lower multipliers. Or maybe my cascade envy is showing *covers it up*

My Q6600 went through about 10L in about 1 hour Didn't even get any good scores too (the mobo's fault).
