Unhappy Damaged MCP-655 ... how bad is it ?

I just bought a Swiftech MCP-655 (vario) one month ago. When I first build the rig, I didn't take it apart as it was working fine.

Today, I had to take my loop apart as I had algae in my loop. I have also taken the block apart and the pump to clean it inside. It was actually not too bad as I think the algae mostly grew in the tube where it found light.

Anyway, the problem when I open the pump is that the magnetic thing (half ball) inside (sorry, I don't know the name) seems to have taken a small hit.

It looks more like chipped paint, except for the black circle part where there is a little dent in it.

Is it bad ?

Could be due to the fact that I have made a bracket to hold the pump with the inlet up and the outlet on the side ?

The pump was slightly tilted as it was removing some stress on the tubing (see picture).

I have read the manual and did some research on internet and it seems the pump orientation doesn't matter right ?

If it is the case, it means it is a defect of fabrication I guess. It looks like it also because in the outer part of the pump, there is no mark at all. Th problem is I am staying in Malaysia, and shipping the pump back for RMA will cost me almost half the price of the pump, so if this doesn't affect the reliability of the pump I can leave it with it ...

Please let me know what you think

The goldish spot on the impeller is on all of the pumps. So if thats what you mean it's not damaged.

Your pump orientation is fine. You don't want a barb facing down to trap air bubbles. There is a pic for proper orientation in the box I thought.

Oh, ok thanks. I've never seen the impeller of a D5 before and thought it was damaged.

Thanks

Ya, should be fine. As long as it still works and doesn't make any abnormal noises I'd say you're good to go.
