Black coolant question

No racist pun intended :P

Firstly hello all of you water cooling geniuses. I am at very best a pure novice and haven't done much with my loop in a year. I'm taking on some minor revisions and plan on using PrimoFlex Pro LRT Black tubing, but I have a clear EK res and I want to use black fluid as well. UV or not doesn't matter as I'm still undecided if i want to continue using lighting anymore.

My question is can anyone recommend a good black fluid or dye that actually looks black. I have read some reviews that the black looks more gray/bluish than black.

I may also pick up a new res I'm looking at the Bitspower 5.25" Bay Reservoir POM Version
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much guys.

My specs are a touch outdated I'm sure.

Evga GTX 260 55nm

Corsair 520 HX

Swiftech Apogee GTZ CPU block
Swiftech MCW60 universal GPU block
Swiftech MCP355 pump
EK-Multioption RES 250
XSPC RS240 UV Blue Rad
All Bitspower fittings

Here is where my rig stands now

Here it is before I filled it.

And here we have the finished product....for now.

I did give up a little in the basement with trying to hid the wires any further, It's a shame I know

Hope you guys like it, I certainly do

Because myself and the OP have an EK reservoir which will be used to show off the liquid, I'd rather not see plain ol' distilled

The Feser black fluid looks pretty good. I've been using it for around 6 months now and no problems with it so far.

I have used Feser black myself also. I did notice a very very tiny amount of stuff in my GTZ after about a month or so of use.

As far as color goes, as long as you don't have any UV lights on and any cold cathodes close by, it is pretty black. I have a photo in the link in my sig.

As far as the OP goes, it seems you are already using black tubing, so I would just use the distilled. I don't think it will make much of a difference in that BP res seeing it isn't a complete clear res and you don't plan on putting light to it. You could also look into this XSPC bay res as it has a faceplate.

As far as wanting a black res, why not just get some window tint, 95% limo black style, and use that? Any reason why it wouldn't work?

Thanks so much for the reply guys. Well The res I have now is the EK multi option res. If I can find a good black colored fluid I will use the black tubing but want it to be black in the Ek res. If I can't I will get the Bitspower res above. I do like the window tint idea. Could I really use food coloring!? I saw the XSPC res but I'm not too partial to it, but thanks for the idea. Miller i like your rig dude, nice work

be warned...anything whether its food colouring, dye or whatever....Black will stain everything in the loop real fast....inside your waterblocks, pump everywhere and everything....black is one of the worst colours you could ever use.

Thanks for all the input here guys. I think I'm going to give up on the black coolant idea though. I don't want to stain my stuff. I think I'm going to get rid of my UV lights and use plain ol distilled. Think it's time to simplify a bit.
