Universal GPU block that fits BP compression?
I am thinking about ditching full covered blocks to universal. I have be absent from WC for a while. Is there any GPU only block that fits 7/16 BP compression?

I would REALLY recommend AGAINST using universal GPU blocks for multi card configurations.. I'm using that now and the bend produced by the tubing (in my case 1/2 ID 3/4 OD) puts so much torgue on the bottom GPU that it actually LIFTS OFF the GPU chip (thats right, it compresses the springs away from the gpu thus lifting it).. I had to shove an 80mm fan underneath the fitting to push it back up to make good contact with the gpu...
If you're going multi card, you need full cover blocks.

I actaully run 3/4 comp fittings on mine, NPSM fitting and the 90 triple rotary BP fittings. It also allows you to get a tighter bend when going up to the CPU.
You can run SLI with GPU onlys, but I would suggest planing it out so that you are using BP fittings and D-plugs to make the connection between blocks. It is possible to build it out far enough with G1/4 adapters.
Bo is right though, I would do full cover if you are are W/Cing. I think all the BP fittings you would have to use would cause the cost of the to options to be almost equal.

I personally don't think full cover blocks are worth it. On cheaper cards, they could easily cost over a third of the card's cost and offer little advantage over air. Using them only (more) cost effective on highest end cards, which yields bad price/performance ratio to begin with. Also, it's harder to upgrade with full cover blocks.

Sure, with the right fittings you can do it

That's where GPU only blocks come in handy. They don't cost as much as a FC. If your goal is a quiet machine, you may find it is worth the cost to put the GPU under water. I know on my 8800GTS and my GTX260 the stock coolers were not very efficient and they are loud.

Good input, I've never thought about this, and I use 1/2:3/4 myself.
Seeing that I want to go 5850's when they drop somewhat in price, fullcover seems the way to go then.

If you use the corrects fittings, mounting a sli/cross configuration with gpu only blocks is easy . . .
If you only use tube that in certain cases could be difficult . . . but not impossible . . . is only a matter of creativity and cleverness, nothing else

You can pre-bend tubes using my method here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...6&postcount=46
Using short SLI fittings, some hose clamps and using a hard mount (not springs) there shouldn't be a problem with little to no torque. I have gotten 3 90 degree NATURAL bends with this method. The tubing wants to be in the shape, the barbs aren't forcing it.
There is no need for the expensive fittings or wasteful FC blocks, just have to get a little creative is all =D
