I think I could do 2 fans per channel, and use the "SEMI Mode" to define a minimum fan speed, with temp controlled step up. I think.
Quote:
AUTO mode: Kaze Server switches off the fan, when the real temperature is much lower than the self-defined temperature.
SEMI mode: In addition to AUTO mode, a minimal rpm of the fan can be defined together with the self-defined temperature.
Does that seem feasible?

My old one worked great (not the server one). As long as you know the limits of the channels (1A or 12W), and don't exceed them, you should be good. You can throw some memory sinks on the fets of the controller to keep them cooler if you plan to get close to the 1amp per channel limit.
I wouldn't recommend it, at least not with more than 1 fan per channel, and even then not very strong fans.
My Kaze Master is 6 months old and only 2 channels are functional still. Channel 1 sorta works, but constantly sounds the alarm and flickers from 1900 to 0 RPM for no good reason, it's driving 2 Scythe 1900RPM fans. Channel 3 was running 1 fan, and doesn't work at all anymore.

Ok, I have no problems staying away from it. I just want something I can use to turn the fans down when I sleep, and turn them up when I'm playing some online or crunching/folding. I'd like to have something that can monitor temps and fan RPMs. Any suggestions?

Thats actually a pretty interesting looking controller. Looks very similar to the Scythe Kaze Server, but prettier (I really don't care for bling so much, but I would want my bling to match, heh.). Can't find any info on availability yet.

EDIT: my comments are for the Scythe Kaze Master Ace, not the Server model. While the specs look the same, they are apparently different models.
Yep ... it looks good, and has great features. I've got three of them. All but one has lost the capability to show RPMs or Temps on at least one of the inputs. I think they are just delicate ...
Perhaps I can just get teh Lamptron FC-2, and just disable the LEDs. I really don't need the fancy readouts. I just want something to turn the fans down when I sleep and on when I fold.

I'd also stay away from the FC-2 - maybe they've fixed their issues, but you get a lovely squealing sound when you turn fans down from 100% ( I tried it with both Yate Loons and Scythe S-Flex fans). I understand their newer models have addressed this. Seem to recall reading about an FC-5 model.
IMO, you'd be safe with a Sunbeam Rheobus, or the Rheobus extreme. You can easily disable the LEDs, and these seem to be robust fan controllers.
OP, personally, I'd ignore everyone that doesn't have one of the server models. It doesn't make sense to make a biased decision based on information that does NOT come from someone with first hand experience with the unit you want. Honestly, it's like asking how a Chevy Camaro drives and being told it sucks by a bunch of Cobalt owners.

Oops ... I would be guilty here. I just assumed it was the same as the Kaze Master Ace and did not check the specs (still haven't). But, I'll blame Naekuh for that, cause I just followed his lead
If it is indeed a completely different unit, then I stand corrected and will withdraw my complaints, but reserve judgement til I see some good news with this unit

Yeah, from the images I've seen of it, the PCB has had a complete makeover.

Well, that would be good. Feeling guilty I did compare the specs of the Server and the "Ace" - they look identical. Maybe they just beefed up the PCB, which might be just what it needed.

Used one for about 6 months and then it suddenly developed a problem of not turning on. Also the molex connector can easily come off the PCB.
Just been experimenting with an AeroCool 2000, it seems to be able to run 2 x GT's on each channel, but it didn't like 3 on a channel I did have it running tonight with 2 x GT's on 3 channels. How long it will be able to maintain that is another matter, but time will tell!
I've been looking for a fan controller that will monitor 3 x GT's in conjuction with a temp probe, so far I've pretty much drawn a blank

I have no complaints with the Aquaero for fan and temp control. They are just hard to come by in the US and a bit expensive.
If the Aero cool doesn't cut it, that is my next choice. Read somwhere that there is a modded one or an add on that will also control a D5 pump, but so far can only get it in Europe.
Hopefully, when Gary finishes his move he will have more stock.

the one I have doesn't like more than one fan on a channel. it works most of the time, but some times the fans will fail to start.
I have the kaze server, it does not like more then one fan per channel.
also it does work great with ulta kaze 3000 fans. and no these are not the fans I combined on one channel. I will say I had to return the first two that I bought because the first one had a channel that would bounce down to zero, sound the alarm and then level out for a while and then start doing it again. The second unit just died about 10min. after I installed it. The one I have now is fine. I've had it installed for 5 months now and other than it not liking more than one fan per channel it's great. It even has an option to turn the display on/off.
and the controller does have one other drawback I have found. I hooked up one of my 230mm cooler master case fans to it and it again sometimes failed to start the fan at power on.
it looks great, had a lot of great options. but quality seems low. after I got a good unit it turned out to be a good controller. but I would buy something else if I had to buy another controller
Well my Scythe controller is responsible for the death of Pegasus. I will never forgive Scythe for that. Fan controller failed = stopped fans = melted motherboard.
(I am in the process of resurrecting Pegasus don't worry! )
stay away from Scythe fan controllers.
I have gone through 3 of them including the server one and all had issues and faults. now using Lian Li Rheobus and very happy.
