Question Information about Vapor Phase Change Cooling units

hi all,

I've been looking around for an way to go sub zero. I have been looking at dice. But I am also very intrested in Phase Change units. But I would like to have a litle bit more information about this.

1) If its a single stage how low are these temps load? Around -75°C
2) Is it easy to use?
3) do you have to change the gas insinde often?
4) And last but not least How much does this cost? I now that I need to send out pm's. But I would like to have a reference
Like is a single stage 500USD? And is it hard to get in the EU

thanks all in advance ^^

Hi, dont know it all, but i can help you in the right direction:

1) A typical Single Stage will get you to around - 30 / - 35 load with a core i7 ( 250 watt or so )
2) It's easy to use, power it up and go!
3) You dont have to, unless its leaking or you've been fiddling with it yourself and opened a valve or so
4) realistich price is 400/500 EU , ask Littledevil or Duniek in EU

Other option for -75°C club (-60°C loaded) is an auto-cascade which is more complicated and expensive, but it can get you into DICE temperature range for 24/7. Power draw isn't that bad either. There is a link to one in my signature.

Otherwise I would recommend LittleDevil, Duniek or Piotres!

Best Regards,
Niko

@thijs:
thats excellent

@tiborrr:
Thanks for the heads up. I was unsure about those temps.

Sow I think I have a battle plan
Going to send out a pm to get accurate prices.
And its going to be single stage to begin with ^^
If I am used to working sub zero then I will look in to a auto-cascade

2) Moderate. Insulating the motherboard can be very different depending on the make and model of the board.

If you can't afford to replace the computer hardware you stand to break, then don't go phase change. I don't know any phase-change enthusiast who has not broken decent gear in the pursuit of low temps.

4) Totally varies. There are obviously people who will build them for you. Or you can purchase company mass produced units. Personally I think anybody who gets customers from here should post the unit specs and sell price on this board.

I'v broken nothing from sub zero, and i'v used my SS on several different boards/sockets for heaps of time. Also a few times on cascade too

Nah you aren't sloppy. I have a high humidity climate and even with a few years doing this I still kill boards from time to time. I have a very long list of dead boards.. doesn't make me too happy to think about
