Rusty Radiator

Dear WC bros out there.. Need some advice from you guys.
I bought a used rad from VRZ and got to know that the rad is damn rusty from the inlet and outlet.... Should I continue to use it for my WC setup or get a new one?

Is there any ways to clean up the rad?

Appreciate your feedback and advices... Thanks

what kind of rad did you buy? Cause copper does not rust. But it does oxidize and turn a dark brown/green

Try cleaning it. I would believe it should be fine since it is a cooper rad. I would use 1part distilled vinegar and 3 part water. Scrub the inlet/outlet with a toothbrush or something and rinse it well with distilled water. Don't let the vinegar/water sit in the rad.

Also, ketchup is a great cleaner for copper WC equipment!

EDIT: For blocks, not rads :P

Indeed, ketchup does work, as it is the vinegar that does the cleaning. Not sure I'd want to clean a used rad with ketchup though!

Yea, clean it the best you can. Boy that is an OLD rad. Hope it was really cheap.

Use scrubbing bubbles, vinegar in short cycles in the sink, fill, skake for 5 min, drain, rinse, inspect inside. You'll never get it perfectly clean, hopefully enough to make it usable. Use a toothbrush on the fittings?

Is it normal for a PA120.3 (old style) to develop oxidization after 6-7 months of use? I've got a pair and one shows a lot of crap (dark bluish stuff) that's inside it after I flashed it hot water and vinegar... The other one, although used longer, doesn't have that problem, at least I didn't notice it.
