My new buddy, a Cryofab CL80

Buckeye told me i aught to post this up. This is my new buddy. Right now i have the great difficulty of figuring out how to get this thing, when it weighs 320lbs full of ln2, in and out of my mini-van . Thinking a ramp of some sort. Should be getting a nice pot from otternase in the very near future as well. So gotta figure out how to get it in out, get it tested and filled (still has gas in it after sitting for months or years, don't think its leaking) Anyway, here we go.

Me and my buddy, sorry for not smiling but it was like a 3 second exposure.

This thing does make me envy a nice small 20L for bringing in the house and filling.. but meh, 80L in this thing aught to hold me over for at least a few hours of benching Also need to get a phase separator.. I believe vince has the slightly nicer model of this dewar (adjustable pressure vs. fixed, mines fixed @12 psi) or at least he does in a picture.

it came with a hose, about 3' long i'd say, you can see it in the 3rd and 4th shot. Covered in armaflex like stuff covering a brass jacketed flex line not to dissimilar to my SS's lineset. So i just need a nozzel and that will cost me about 50$ no biggie. Including very expensive shipping it was 568$. Costs a bit to get 120lbs shipped on a pallet to a residential address; so much so the shipping was more than the winning bid, and they didn't have shipping listed so it came as a slight shock. At the end of the it's not a bad deal if i do say so. The heater is a real plus if i ever get a little bit smaller vessel to actually bring inside, though i doubt that'll happen, i'll end up with a cascade before a new dewar unless i get a little 5L flask or something. Somebody might visit it could eventually come in handy.. who knows.

I am itching to get some -100 action, you might be able to tell based on my sig hehe. So i have been emailing every gas company around for a quote on filling it up. Contacted: Praxair, Airgas, BOC, Weldstar, and Rockford Welding Supply (regional place), am i forgetting any other major national distributors? Living west of Chicago i have access to pretty much any industrial gas company, just gotta go to one that doesn't care it will be tethered down riding in the back of a minivan, and gives me a decent price per liter.

Yeah, i can't wait to get this thing into action, ordered up a new rig (finally going i7, w3550) and a "medium" sized phase separator today. Waiting on a pot to be made. Oh, and i apologize for being a post slut, trying to get my count up

That thing is beautiful.. I've been searching for a 50-100L dewar for a while, can't believe that one flew under the radar Good luck with the benching, with that in your arsenal you should be set for a while.

my regional place Linwield quoted me 1/2 the price of Airgas and 1/3 of Praxair LOL - adn they were the only one to listen to me about what I will actually be using it for and not gaff at me - I also cannot get delivery in the suburbs of Des Moines (What crap that is ) I am not too far away for a bench session

Nice one Less

Thats a very nice Dewar, tho not as tall as I pictured it, unless you are really, really tall

You are getting very close to some nice cold benching runs there

Oh forgot to add... Does the pressure top on that come off ?
It will be interesting to see how they fill that. Airgas out where I am at does not have a propper fitting on the thier fill tank to fit up to my pressure top so I have to pull the top off mine and they just drop the big hose they use into my tank.

Yeah, it has a removable cap, though it's designed for high pressure so it has a metal cuff on it essentially, remove the cuff the lid pops off. I hope wherever i go has typical transfer line, because that's exactly what mine uses, i'm looking at a site selling transfer lines and they make note of taylor wharton adapter needed for k series cryofridges, 12$ You might consider getting one so they can fill easier, or not since they charge you out the butt, make em waste more ln2 in filling

@ TGE, you're not the only one, i'm thinking of throwing a party once i get filled up (or maybe get a 160 or 240 delivered, fill mine up a few times) and my pot from otti arrives. Gotta get eraser tonight too, my bloodrage arrives tomorrow and i don't feel like building a water loop, so it's going under phase w3550 actually shipped from Chicago so it got here in a day. Hopefully i can pull 5 out of it, it's identical batch with same package date as Chispy so hopefully it has a nice low cold bug like his, and clocks as well.

Well.. i got a quote from a company that i found pretty reasonable (1.56$ a L) now i just need someone with a truck, don't really feel like buying one just for the occasional dewar filling. well, also waiting on a pot to arrive... god international shipping is annoying, the second it leaves the country of origin all tracking stops (and that was the 5th) :O hope they don't think it's a bomb or something...
