DDC led mod.[Updated]
You know, XSPC made the top for Laing DDC, it have 2 holes to insert the led. But i don't like that way, so many wires around the DCC
I will show you my idea.
XSPC top
You see all DDC have this 4 holes
Take it apart
3mm led can fit in those holes
Insert leds from the top & solder them together, use 12v from DDC board
I added a 100ohm registor, just for safety. you can see a bit of it
these thin wires from a fdd cable
Finish, tidy & neat

very nice...
how difficult was it to solder the leds together? And where on the board did you connect them?

just tie into the 12v line and ground where the stock wires are soldered on

Those dont look like 12V LED's...
i think he has them wired up in serial.

great idea, but that means it's always on right? No stealth mode?

there re plenty space around the base, just add a switch next to the registor
[finding tiny switch.....]

Looks like he has them wired in series, so if/when 1 led burns out, they all don't light. Not that leds burn out often, but good to remember for those folks that don't know basic series, parallel circuits
Also, if you have 1 led wired the wrong polarity, they all won't light. so something to remember if anyone does this and ends up troubleshooting.

dont think he needs one.
He has 4 wired in serial... so each is getting a respected 3V from a 12V source.
Those LED's definitely look like 3V led's.

ahhh yes...
Thinking of Xmas already are we?
But its really easy to tell which is the cat and anode on a LED.
So after you position it, it should be easy to solder and wire.

IIRC, all diodes
require some form of current limiting resistors, LEDs included.
Get a LED with a barrier voltage of less than 3V and hook it up to a pair of AAA batteries, it goes pop!
EDIT: and I'm pretty sure diodes cannot act as resistors.

There is a voltage drop in each LED, it's ok to use them like that Vapor.

Unless LEDs are coming with inline resistors now, I really don't think so...
http://led.linear1.org/why-do-i-need...r-with-an-led/
Nhenhophach is using a resistor (100ohm), fwiw.

i dont see why it would be any different than any other device that follows the voltage adding rule

you can see a bit of it in this pic
1 end solder to the 12v point directly, 1 end to the thin wire & come back to the led
i bend it over so it would fit in the space near the ddc's wire located
edit the pic for better view
