The rad arrived today from performance-pcs. I was curious if there's anything that should be done to "prep" it before installing it into my case? I think I read somewhere that you should wash it out with water.
This is going to be my first loop and I've still got a couple of questions. I've decided I like the look of compression fittings so I'm probably going to use them but I wasn't sure how that would effect my tubing choice. I have read it's best to use 1/2" barbs with 7/16" tubing for a tighter fit does that also apply to compressions?
Can I mix and match barbs/compressions with out hindering the flow of the loop? I would like to use barbs for the rad and the pump.
I saw a valve on here that stops flow, if I were to put one near my pump should I put it before the inlet or after the outlet and what else would I need to make draining the loop easier and more efficient?
I'm going to be using the Noiseblocker Silent Fans but I'm unsure of which speed I should use. I know the RX360 is best suited to low speed fans but should I be looking at the 1000RPM or 1500RPM model?

You should prep the rad by flushling it several times with hot water, leaving the water in the rad for a while then covering the holes and shaking it thorougly before draining and repeating. One or two final flushes with distilled water to finish off for good measure.
If you go with compressions, make sure to get the exact size to match your tubing. Too small or large and will have problems tightening them down.
Mixing and matching barbs and compressions is no problem at all.
Where you put the stop valve is completely up to you. Just place it where it is the most easily accessible. Good planning here will save you a lot of work when it comes time to drain the loop.
My opinion on fans is get the highest speed fans for the model you have decided on. If they are too loud for you then you can dial them down a bit with a fan controller. If you get slower fans from the beginning but aren't happy with the performance, you can't make them go faster, you have to replace them.

Alright thanks for the tips. I'm stoked to get everything up and running. I haven't had a desktop since I sold off my p45 setup last year.

Looks like you got your questions answered, Blue Channel. Good to see you are excited about building your water cooling setup. Hope you start a work log on your project - I've found it's a great way to get feedback and get questions answered on your specific build. Good luck with your project!

Thank you. I actually pulled my v1010 apart awhile ago and began painting the inside and prepping the case for the loop. It was actually my first time sitting down and using power tools for something other than little stuff. It was a learning experience and I did make a lot of mistakes but that's okay. I will post some pictures over the course of the next few weeks after I get things up and running. The pc is probably going to be ran off my desk and out of a case for a couple weeks. It's going to take me a few pay periods to catch up with the cost off all this stuff but that'll give me some time to see what I can do on air and learn the ropes of the Ph2 and the board. I haven't had a new AMD system in almost 2 years. I'm excited now, more than ever, to be back with the green team.
