MIPS Mosfet Blocks P6T6

Ok, so I have the mosfet blocks for P6T6 - what am I supposed to use between the copper and the mosfets? Would a pad be the best choice? and what thickness? I was thinking I could just get some pads from PPCs for my FC water blocks (.5mm and 1.0mm and use what I have leftover).

Also, does anyone have a link to how to install these things?

Thanks!

did it come with thermal pads?

I dont think you will need one on your north and south bridge. You use Thermal Paste.
The Mosfet, see first if the block will lay almost perfectly flat on it. If it does, then just use paste there again.

If you see a GAP between the mosfet and block, then you will need to use a thermal pad.

I believe those might be the he Backup O-Ring (black rubber band). It's an backup just in case you open the water block possibly.

Those do look bigger though.

I got it from someone else so no luck with the thermal pads. Correct me if I'm wrong but the mosfets are the little black dot things next to the big square things right? If it's flat, would I just dab a bit of arctic alumina or something on there?

Also, should I be worried if there are dark smudges on the copper bases? I can't seem to clean them off with isopropyl alcohol. Thanks!

yes u just need a little dab.

And the dark smudges is oxidation.

It wont hurt its performance, however if its annoying the crap out of you, try using some vinegar and wipe in 1 direction until it disappears, and then imediately clean off.

For the mosfets you can use the original heat pads that come with the motherboard. The rings are spacers for fittings with longer threads. Bitspowers screw right in for instance, but most regular fittings of other brands do require them.

Those black rings that came with each block are for barbs that may have longer threads that will stick down into the flow path.

Just stick them on the thread with the o-ring facing the block and tighten as normal.
