Which compressor

I found two old chiller units in a clear out the other day. I was hoping to get an SS built out of one of them.

Which compressor would be best??



Aspera J6220A 64BA09 - 3/4 HP 230v R-12 H.S.T. Medium Temp

5/8" sea suction Service valve

anyone got any ideas which ones best for SS?

aparenlty these are for higher loads and would be better off in a chiller situation.

I'd use the 3/4 HP Aspera. The 1kW beast is will be badly matched to a single stage unless you plan on a multi-head unit.

The two things I believe are important for compressor selection is HP and application (LBP/MBP/HBP).

The good thing is that you can build everything with a certain compressor and then just swap it out if it doesn't work out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 1kw = ~3500BTU. That is way less then a 3/4hp unit. My 3.5kw unit is only 12000BTU which is a bit over 1hp.

EDIT: I think you might be right, I always get confused converting the kw's.

1kw = 3410 btu

But this is about cooling power, not motor size. At example I have rotary, which is 10700 btu (which is 3,1kw) but motor size is 1hp (750w)
