They are 4000RPM fans so yes they are noisy. I run mine on a fan controller and once you go below 2500RPM they are quiet. You can use an inline resistor to slow them down or get a molex to 3 pin adapter and do the 5v or 7v mod on it.

Same situation as with my OCZ mem fans, with a 7v resistor they're really quite
FWIW I just had to replace the fans in my OCZ memory cooler because one of them became unbalanced or the bearing died. One was fine but the other made horrible noise and was barely moving any air. Fortunately I had a pair of 40mm fans to replace them with, and I finally got rid of the LEDs!
If they're making alot of noise the fan(s) might be dying. And my OCZ fans were pretty quiet when working properly. Even better hooked up to a fan controller where you can turn them down if you want.
