Hello,
I've been interested lately in building a new system to escalate one step further than my water cooled and TEC builds I've made in the past.
I'd like to get some suggestions for the simple mod project I'm going to start doing; very slowly over the comming months.
I want to mod a phase change system into an ABS Aplus Black Pearl case (v2000 clone). I only need an SS; must be able to cool a i7 920 D0 @ 5GHz (For reference). By the time the case is finished it will probably be cooling one of Intel's new 32nm chips. So 200 - 230 watt cooling might be sufficient or it could be overkill (I like overkill

).
I would really like a system who's compressor is as quiet as possible. I will also be doing various case sound suppressing mods to try to eliminate as much vibration from the compressor as possible. I would also like a system which is relatively light on the power draw and can reach its system starting temp of about -30 or lower within a few minutes or less.
Systems I've been considering:
Cooler Express SS 2009 version (supposed to be pretty quiet, unsure of its cooling potential).
OCZ Cryo-z (How loud is this thing? Strong enough? Reliable?)
Custom from these forums for a fair price (Must be quiet, powerful and compact enough to fit in a Black Pearl (v2000)).
Knowledge I come to the forums with, as this is my first post:
Associates in Electronics.
2 years component level work as television technician.
Had a class in college on HVAC controls (pretty fun, got to learn all the theory and apply it. Just didn't get to build a system, but got to charge them and recapture and perform other routine maintenance on commercial grade A/C systems.)
Currently working for the FAA as a Communications tech.
Overclocking experience: moderate
Thanks all.
