Something tells me that whoever thought of this had 2 Zalman 9700 in the labs and just cut it up and glued it together

Btw, those push pin mounts suck.

Somewhat, except multiplied. But in all thoughts, yes, a rip off straight from Zalman.

Yea I agree, it looks like a cnps9700 that's been split apart. I'm not 100% sure but i think those are 8mm heat pipes tho.

The pipes are in a better position than the zalman though. Zalman put the pipes on the innermost part of the fins. What would be best is to have the pipes in the center so the heat can spread across the fins both directions and the fan would be blowing directly on it. More efficient that way.

This cooler is almost there - a couple of the pipes are in the center - but some are along the outside edge. Should perform better in that case. But why would it separate like that? Looks like in order for that to happen the pipes have to rotate in the base, and surely that would mean poorer thermal contact, so it may perform no better or worse than the zalman. Be interesting to see this tested.

Whoever designed that pushpin thing should be shot. I've never used it (never had 775) but just the idea of hanging these heavy coolers off these little pins just doesn't sound safe. And from the sound of it they are a pain to work with too.

That AMD clip looks rather cheesy also. Looks like the metal on it isn't all that thick to give any sort of decent mounting pressure. I could be wrong though, but certainly doesn't look all that hefty.

Unlapped base = they can do better than that. Doesn't have to be a mirror finish, just smooth it out some. That looks rough as sandpaper almost.

Is that tube MX-1? I can't tell. Does it work better with a really flat surface or a rougher surface? Maybe it works better with a rougher surface so that is why the base isn't smooth? Just a thought.

that thing is the worst bootleg i've every seen! whats the point of having it open? is there a fan for all three sections? i doubt it cuz if it did that would mean some serious Db's. if there is only one fan, then the efficiency would drop like old boobies ...but like seriously, that thing wont make it in todays market IMO
