If AMD goes down we have Sun

Quote:
A source close to Intel said that they expect AMD to survive the storm but if all goes bad and the company goes down Intel will still have Sun to compete.

Things are bad for AMD but it will survive 2007, and the end of it will start looking’s better. Intel is probably stronger than it even been.

I'm a bit of a sun fanboy.

sure Spark isn't all that great of a CPu but hey it's half a generation ahead of everyone else.

where do you see everyone going? inline CPus with many cores.
Where did you see sun going a year ago? inline with many cores.

im personally hoping IMB buy amd or bring there processes more mainstream market as they are number one at everything tbh.

But they arent likely to buy amd anymore because of one the price, and two because of it being ati aswell which i dont think imb would be interested in.

Problem is, if anyone buys AMD they lose their x86 license. And they also need to make atleast 80% of the CPUs inhouse.

So buy AMD=No CPUs.

I agree, I don't think AMD will die either. It will pull out of the hole, stuff like this happens to many companies and they make it out just fine.

I highly doubt that even if AMD goes down and takes its x86 license with it, authorities will leave Intel to take over 100% of the market.

No matter what they would force them to share it for the sake of anticompetitive practice.

Blame Intel, they are the ones throwing FUD around to try to get people not to buy AMD....
