Will I have any problems running my DDR1000 5-5-5-15 @ DDR667 3-3-3-8?

Whats the advantages or disadvantages of the different levels.

I can run my ballistix DDR1000 D9GMH (i peeked under the hood) at over DDR1000 5-5-5-15. or I can run is @ DDR1000 4-4-4-14 if I bump the V up to near 2.4v. But I worry about running them too hot. I do have a 80mm fan on them.

I can run these at DDR800 4-4-4-12

Or I can run these in sync for DDR667 3-3-3-8 @ 2.0V or a little less.

Lately I have just been running these @ 3-3-3-8 and 2.0v. I have not, however, tested to see just how high I can go with these timings. But I cant tell any difference between any settings. Doesnt seem to effect my FPS at all. Only benchies show any difference.

Are these the ones that you have?

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)

If so, they are rated for 2.2V and you should be able to at least hit 4-3-3-8 @ 800MHz depending on your OC.

I'd lower it down to 4-3-3-8 @ 2.2V and run OCCT's memory test for 6-8 hours and see it they pass then drop it down to 3-3-3-8 @ 2.2V and run it again. If they pass then drop the volts a little and see if you can do those timmings w/ less juice.

I did this with my Patriot sticks in my sig and was able to stay stable 8+ using OCCT at 3-3-3-9 @ 2.15V running them at ~800MHz. I'm not sure if I can go lower with the volts as I don't have the time right now to continue testing.

Oops, after running stable on the memory test run the blend for another 8 hours or so and make sure those ram timmings work with your CPU overclock.
