Uh, my L628B167's vid is 1.000 , but I really do not think the vid has alot of an effect on how good the cpu is...
Looking back, the L629A that I sold to you FCG was 1.000 also...

yeah i've seen some odd ones out there.....1.000v including.........
but you can still have a decent chip even if it says 1.3500v >>> i guess what i am asking is whether the likelyhood of the chip being better has anything to do with that VID indicator

VID does relate to performance across the same week, but other than that, it's a real toss up. Obviously, tho...626B w/ 1.325VID is not as good as 1.250VID. My quad is 1.250, and does 3ghz @ 1.2v....

Well, I don't know if Vid does much, but my E6600 with 1.3250 did 3.15 with 1.28v (1.31 in bios) and my new quad has a vid of 0.8 something (Can't check now since I fubared the bios chip) and it did 1 hour (stopped it since I wanted to see how high it would boot) of prime @ 3.2Ghz with 1.22v load (1.31 set in bios I think) I managed to boot up @ 4Ghz and get into windows with only 1.55 set in bios and this was without twicking, just set random voltage and set FSB to 400.

Awsome clocks there...the results are really GODLY!!
VID has much to do with the OC-ability vs Voltage requirement IMHO.
I also have an E6700 by the way, and its VID shown in Core Temp 0.95 is 1.2500v and this is by far the best C2D cpu I've tested up-to-date but it's still not even close to the OP. It does 3730mhz at 1.47v and Orthos full load is at 1.43v
I had another E6700, VID 1.27500 and it tops out at 3600mhz and another E6600, VID 1.3500 (Newer batch) and it tops out at 3200mhz, literally!
So not only we shoiuld take the week and batch into account but also VID as the initial voltage also plays a big role in the final OC !
he's one hell of a lucky guy

Thanks for making us E6700 owners proud

I will post up the result on my QX6700 when my new bios chip arrives... I won't be doing more than one hour of prime since it really heats up fast... I don't have a rad on my water system, all I have is an office cooler cooling the water, and after an hour (Water temp started @ 9C, did'nt let my water cool completely) it got the water to about 25C... CPU temp was about 63C ( A little Ice water dropped the CPU temp back down to 43C though)
This was with the few moments I had before my Bios went down the drain.

Erm.... you are using a really old version of CoreTemp. Upgrade to 0.95 and find out the real VID.
Yea, all the chips I have seen having 1.25V VID were really good clockers.... i envy u dinos.
