Whats the difference between these 2 Ballistix?

I just got me some new Ballistix pc5300 and when I took off the heatspreaders, I notice one of the pcb is different ( the bottom one ).... This is the second time I came across a stick with this pcb and I have no idea why its different..... My best guess since Im still kinda new to DDR2 is that these are probably the old design.... Anybody know?

These are Pc5300 512mb sticks

my best guess would be the top pcb might be used for ECC since it seems to be missing a ic on it.

Edit:

Sorry, got mixed up. Was writing an article on FB-DIMMs at the time and had little time to answer.
The upper PCB is indeed used for the LED-controller on Tracer-modules, as cadaveca stated below.

Wow the wrongness of these answers! that there top PCB has the space for LED's and Controller for LED's from Ballistix Tracer line, while the bottom one does not.

yah i was kinda suprised also, lol

my guess is one PCB is from brainpower, the other is from levin.

Can you look for the writing on the PCB. BP MLL will be located in black on the top of one of them. Levin in gold will be on the side of the other.

Let us know, you have a rare kit!
