I whant to know its worth to wait abit for new cpu's??

I think 4 gig ram will be enugh for home use.
Well i need mainboard + cpu + Pcie singlecard graphics and fast memory.
No ocing ofc = stability

For that kind of money I can build a dual clovertown or high end woodcrest that would destroy a dual opty..( here come the flames)
US prices:
Board: SM X7DAE:$450.00
Memory: 4x1 gig DDR2-667 FBDimms:$362.00
cpu's: Vary but for $1400.00 total you can get 2 that will meet your needs.
A couple of the lower end clovertowns BSEL modded from 1066 to 1333FSB and in the 2500mhz range..on 8 cores!

As far as I'm concerned the only thing the opty does better in is bandwidth.
Everywhere else the clover beats it.
remember, a dual opty is 4 cores, a dual clover is 8.
It should outdo the opty.
That 4 socket Tyan board you linked to:
One of the guys has one of them with 8 Opty 880's on it using the plug in daughter card that accepts 4 more cpu's so 16 cores on his machine
He ran cinebench on it and got 2764 I beleive.
I got in the 2600's with 8 cores and Kaz-n has water cooled a dual clover to 3789 and beaten that 2764 mark..
That a good enough answer?

you'll want the 64-bit version of pro, or vista-ultimate, else you'll only see 3 gigs of ram...

Core2 generally performs 20-25% better at the same clockspeed than AMD64 K8, and that applies to Clovertowns and Opterons , too.
The devil is in the details. The registered DDR2 is cheaper than the FBDIMMS so as you add memory the price/performances closes. Overclocking on socket 771 is really horrible, much worse than on Socket F or Socket 940.
The main advantage of Socket F Opterons over 940 is hardware support for virtualization.
The main advantage of Intel CPUs is that you can get Intel chipsets, whereas when you pick AMD CPUs you have to live with NVidia chipsets in this segment.

With 1 cpu 4 cores posible to run winxp pro 32bit?
I need to run winxpPro32 and 64 and vista 32 and 64 as with 2 cpus=8 cores will be great

Well tell us what did you buy? I personally don't base a system purchase on benchmarks like SuperPI and Sisoft Sandra. That's pretty misleading.

Works great on 1.2 volts and ¨2400Mhz as default freq¨
In this case i tell him by ME see things in this forum i6600 is best performer for $
