Need a silent, low profile PC for storing music ONLY.

Hi guys, my experience is only with overclocking and high end PCs. Well, I need to build a SILENT pc, with the lowest profile (smallest) case possible.

The only requirements:
-silent
-able to hold at least ONE pci card. Not PCI express, just PCI.
-Preferably, space for at least 2 hard drives and one optical drive.

This does NOT need to be fast, tweaked, overclocked or anything. It needs to be reliable.

It's only use is going to be storing my lossless audio collection. It will be controlled by TightVNC. NO need for mouse, keyboard, monitor or anything.

It will output a digital-coaxial bit-perfect audio signal. I already have the PCI sound card for this. That is what the PCI slot is for.

I really only need suggestions for motherboard, case, and PSU. Remember, this NEEDS to be silent.

look up Mini-ITX form factor PCs. They can almost always have one optical drive, one PCI slot, and one hard drive, sometimes two HDs. They are generally kinda slow though, although I think they are coming out with Core 2 ITX motherboards now.

Buy one of those slim PCs from Dell or HP.

Or heck buy a cheap dual core notebook...and make sure its silent on load.

Mini ITX?? Whats that? Just checked newegg, sweet! The boards are TINY and there are fanless ones that include everything! What kind of funky CPU are they using though?

Ok, only trouble is I can't find a good case.

This is the board I want:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813181021

The hardware I would be using with it would be an optical drive (full size or half height, whatever the case supports, does not have to be a burner, just read CDs and preferably DVDs as well), an internal 3.5" SATA hard drive, 512mb of RAM and finally an ESI Juli@ PCI sound card. A PSU as well but they seem to come with all the ITX cases.

My requirements for the case are only that it fit the hardware mentioned above, and if at all possible, no fans. If it MUST have fans, they need to be whisper silent. So what are my case options? I would also like it to be as small as possible and still meet my requirements.

Would a NAS be somewhat appropriate?

Look for Via Epia mini itx boards and case for it. Then you just need a ram, hd and psu for it.

Should have everything you would want. Keep in mind mini-ITX does tend to more expensive than matx or cheaper Shuttle size computers, for example you could go for something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16856101480
which has alot more features but isn't as small or completely fanless as mini-ITX.

Also check this out:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16856101022

Or just get a Mac Mini, lol:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...sktop/mac_mini
but no room for pci add-on card.

That ITX board you linked to uses a VIA C7 processor. Here is a link to VIA's site about it:
