More Starcraft 2 rumors

I have no idea if this is really legitimate or not, but at the very least it's different from the old rumors and new.

http://sc.gosugamers.net/news.php?id=6151

Quote:
Starcraft 2 will be announced to the public on May 19th at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitation (WWI).

On April 25th, according to the game company Blizzard Korea Entertainment, it is confirmed that they will announce Starcraft 2 demonstrating it with both videos and images. Furthermore, the developers of Starcraft 2 will be there, and have time to answer the questions.

Starcraft 2 is being developed in 3D and there will be new race and some specific changes to remaining races. Details of only minor parts will be released at WWI.

IMO that's really not appropriate to say, period (not to mention the field day JT would have, such a threat REGARDING a video game... the best way to prove him wrong is by example)

I hope it will keep the simplistic gameplay with truly great graphics. The word 3d makes me cringe a little. Its so easy for designers to focus on graphics and lose sight of what makes the game fun, the gameplay.

Damn 3D. I hope they won't screw this one up. (Except for the much improved world editor w/e jass instead of triggers, I think WC3 in 3D was a screw-up. I have since doomed the day camera angles will have to be changed in SC2.)

Rumor: StarCraft 2 Beta By Year's End?
A Korean site claims to have the scoop on a new race and the future of the original StarCraft.
by Daemon Hatfield

April 11, 2007 - Put on your skeptical goggles because rumors are swirling that StarCraft 2 is finally a reality. The Team Liquid forums have translated an article from Korean site Fighter Forum that says StarCraft 2 is on the way and a beta will be released at the end of 2007.

According to Fighter Forum, StarCraft 2 continues the story of the original and adds a new race based on Kerrigan, making a total of four races. While that wouldn't be totally off the mark, we figured the new race would be more the super-race mix between Zerg and Protoss rather than Zerg and Terran or at least the mystically advanced Xel'Naga. The three older tribes will each be receiving around two additional units.

The report also claims that Blizzard plans to shut down its original StarCraft servers in order to ensure the success of the sequel.

As popular as StarCraft was on these shores, it doesn't come close to the enthusiasm the game still enjoys in Asia, where televised, professional matches are held regularly. Blizzard has an event coming up in Korea where they are expected to make a large announcement, so it could very well be that the company has chosen the area where StarCraft is the most popular to announce its sequel.

As of this writing, Blizzard could not be reached for comment.

I hope they make the graphics sharp and defined, like in the original starcraft. I don't want any of this jaggy nasty looking 3D like in WC3 and WoW

I really hope this is true. I've been harping on about wanting SC2 for years now. I was worried that they'd shelve a possible SC2 for something like "World of Starcraft". I remember seeing a "World of Starcraft" page on GameSpot a while ago that was taken down just minutes later.

They finally found some programmers who could put up with them? Will miracles never cease I suppose Diablo 3 will be announced as well as starcraft ghost?

I lost faith in blizzard after warcraft home edition. I am looking forward to Hellgate london as the continuation of the methodology of that gaming platform/style.
Of course those in the know will follow to hellgate knowing that WOW is the penultimate blizzard offering .(choke gasp hack)

1) there has been some recent activity at Vivendi around the Starcraft trademark, so this could be true
2) even if they announce it now, be prepared to wait at least 3 years for them to actually complete the game, Blizzard always takes forever and a day
3) there is absolutely no way SC2 can live up to Brood War. Impossible to top perfection, you see... and highly improbable to reach it again.

blizzard is so stupid for not having done sc2 earlier...
they should just use the wc3 or wow engine and create sc based games with it...

I agree Saaya. They are only worrying about WoW because most of their financial income is from WoW accounts and support. I would love to see an standalone DotA with some graphical, AI and game improvements.

Probably not. Blizzard has a history of making awesome games (fun gameplay), but their graphics are usually mediocre. It lets them sell to a wider audience.

StarCraft was the first game I played on the internet though, a lot of memories with it... definitely excited.

Starcraft 2 is well under way and i wouldn't be surprised that Blizzard makes the announcement soon. A friend who works for them here in SoCal has been telling me about it's progress from time to time but is very cautious about how much detail he will give me about the game. I'll have to prod him about it this week.

DotA is just a mod of WC3 though. I'm sure that it would be nice, but Clan TDA has driven me away from it.

You could top the original Starcraft pretty easily, it lags from time to time with huge battles. As with everyone else, I played it a lot with my friends. I even bought it in 1998 when I over played the demo.

3d would be pointless I think, just make everything sharper, and better game play with no lag in huge battles.
