Abit QuadGT+Xeon3060+LN2= 5GHz

So,this weekend i was at Norways biggest Lan (TG07- The Gathering) together with some friends, inc aspstein, Stoolman, DDK (Det Dvergiske Kaffebord) and aasmaukr.

We were just goona have some fun with LN2 and dice. Stoolman brought some serious hw wee all got to play with, and our own hw of course. 70L of LN2 and about 35kg dry ice.

While Stoolman was working with some projects workrelated, me and aspstein was doing testing and modding the mobos and setups for this session, 3 days of benching.......thank you

So, i was goona test my Abit QuadGT and my Xeon 3060 L630A under LN2 for the first time. This Xeon has done 4311mhz before with watercooling@1,6v

The Abit died on me before i could do some really testing but i got some pretty desent results before that.......

Testsetup:
Abit QuadGT bios B07 Beta
Xeon 3060 L630A
Crucial 10th Anniversary PC5300 4-4-4-8@2.45v
Mousepot rev1
Mist 600w
Ati Radeon 7000 pci
...and LN2 of course

Highest validation 5002mhz

Best superpi1M 10.297sec@4800mhz ....sorry bad pic, forgot screen...lol...

Pic showing from left to right aspstein, me sitting, DDK and aasmaukr

Pic of rig before run......Abit R.I.P

Nice work, I don't think I've ever seen a QuadGT under cold, but it seems like it does just fine.

Yeah, the abit was flying.
Funny though, the day before i testet the mobo after vmch-mod and i thought it was really difficult to get her over 520fsb, but under LN2 she took off

Have ordered a New QuadGT for testing for max clock on my Xeon, only 1.635vcore@5GHz .....stupid....lol....

Thanks
It was almost "too easy", the Abit did all i wanted untill it died, dunno why, condens was not an issue, and the air was pretty dry, no condens problem what so ever, the insulation was 100%.

I will test the Abit once again to be sure, but i already ordered a new mobo.
The 1066 strap makes the pitimes awesome at that speed, but you gotta have good memory to keep up, the Crucial did a good job, tested them a week before on a P5B E Plus (vmch and vdimm mod) 1400mhz@2,6v (5-5-5-15)

Next time i will push for sub 10sec pi, the Xeon had no problem and is doing just fine, awesome chip

---cheers---

Great results! ( Also for Apstein even if he beat the crap out of my celly. )

Have you had a chance to look at your PWNs yet to see if one of thoose got broken? I notice on my board that atleast two of them gets quite hot over 1.65v vcore under load.

Also, What vMCH did you use at the most? ~1.9v?

Again, great result. Especially considering that low vcore.

@before, thanks master ....now i want to pm you, i need a few ideas and trick to run my pi faster, you are the #1 pi guru i know off.
I wanna see a 9 sec run on this Abit and Xeon

@blossa, the vmch was 1,92v, the Abit responded lovely under LN2, the pitimes was good, but then all of a sudden she died .....
We had very dry air in the hall, maybe some static electricy killed the mobo, also a Commando died just like that, strange.

The Abit looks ok, no vicible damage, no sign of what happend, its wierd.

We will do this again soon, im gonna use a P5B E Plus and a new QuadGT this time, need some crazy fsb for this Xeon, the wr is within reach for this cpu
Next time i hope the mobo stays alive long enuff to bench moore on max, we never got the chance this time.

Yeah, that was very fun. It's much more fun to overclock when you can do it together rather than alone. Everybody (especially Norz) was shouting out in joy when we saw the Xenon did 5G.
And yeah aspstein must but up the celly screen, thats insane. I've never been so consentrated while pouring LN2.

Oh, I'm DDK by the way. Different fora different nicks ...

...lol... when playing with LN2, theres a lot of emotions going on, will i be able to hit xxxx mhz?, will the hw survive? All this is in youre head, if or when you do good, theres no better feeling

@kaffebord, youre the man , you pour the LN2 for me with ease so i could consentrate only on my cpu/hk, youre my #1

@misko old friend,it was so much fun, next time i will do a 9.xxxsec run for you...lol... thanks mate

@LexLuthor, .....thanks, now you go grab some LN2 for this Abit, i know you got a better mobo than mine, the Abit is very fast on 1066 strap.

---cheers---

Lol Why didnt anyone tell me about this thread earlier...

The abit rocks hard. A shame that it died. Same with my P5B deluxe and Stoolmans Commando. Gives me a nice chance to pick up a abit board for myself then?

And btw, you guys make it sound like im the only crazy dude in this gang, thats so not true. We are all crazy

Norz my friend I'm thinking about this one for couple of days, are u sure that u are not thinking about 4900mhz instead of 4800, 10.297x4900= perf number 50455 and it is still awesome, 10.297x4800=49425 and that is very very difficult (not impossible of course)

Im glad someone is watching me , i took a look at the cpuz flies .cvf and i hitted F7 every try for mhz and every pirun. I can see the next highest cpuz was 4860mhz, and im pretty sure that my spirun 10.297sec was on 4860mhz and NOT 4800mhz......my bad. im sorry for not sorting that out.

But still my best pirun ever .....im not capable of running 49.4xx formel yet, who does that?...lol... Maybe another day, maybe not.....nothing is impossible my friend....thanks for pointing me wright..

4860mhz x 10.297 = 50043 ...im getting there, it was on my tweaked spi disk with very thight subtimings

Everybody happy now my friend

---cheers---

for clearing that one, I saw yours 50455 perf:

so I thought it was 4900 instead of 4800
