So I can't get a Bad Axe 2 in Hong Kong...
Yup, Intel just doesn't sell them here, which is a real shame.
It turns out, actually, that we have a very limited selection of "enthusiast" boards. Allow me to list them for you:
Asus P5B-Deluxe
Asus P5W-DH
Asus Commando (just a glorified P5B)
Asus Striker 680i (I will never go dual card)
Gigabyte DS3
Gigabyte DS4
Yup, that's right, that's all I can buy here in HK. A real shame. Where are the Abits? The Intels? Where are the 975x mobos?
Assuming that I have an E6600 that can hit 3.8 (422 FSB), which board would you recommend?
I am leaning towards the P5B deluxe as I haven't seen many P5W-DH's hitting that high of a FSB.
What are your thoughts?

I see. That's a real shame I can't get a good 975x motherboard... getting a high multi, high clocking chip, it would really be beneficial... though how measurable or "noticeable" is beyond me.
Thanks for the advice.

Only if I buy it second hand off forums... no US retailers will ship here as far as I know, and if they do, they charge extortionate shipping prices.
Plus, even the BX2 isn't guaranteed to hit 450 FSB, which is what I'm looking for out of a mobo... I want to take the chip I may possibly be acquiring to the max... so, ideally, a tested BX2 is what I want.
It's a real shame, though, that the enthusiast market isn't that strong here in HK. We are on top of tech, and all the essentials are released on time, but we can't buy WC gear here, for EG, nor do we even get OC editions of cards particularly much, save XFX ones.
Heck, we don't even get much eVGA out here, and those that we do only have a 1 year warranty (I don't know a single brand in HK that gives lifetime, that includes XFX).
But then again, HK is a tiny market... and there are only a handful of us who want the best, and most of us go online for it.
All my WC gear is bought online, my ram is bought online, soon my CPU is bought online and hopefully I can get a BX2. All in all, I probably pay 1.5x as much because of shipping... a real pain for someone like me where I working to save up for university...

Where? I searched SSP high and low, and all I got was either that there had been no stock, or that there would be no more stock.
I haven't looked into 298 yet, but I doubt they'll have it for a reasonable price. And from what i gather, the other areas such as Mong Kok or TST really just aren't worth looking around in.

How about ordering from Europe?
Nobody shipping to HongKong as well?
If you want to hit 450 FSB you'd better go 965 imo, don't know if any BadAxe2 will hit that straight out of the box.
My P5W DH Dlx hits 425 full stable after i changed the tim under the chipset coolers and this is only the 1.65Vmch version, the 1.85Vmch revision will hit higher i guess.

Well, changing chipset coolers hardly seems like trouble when it comes to getting a good OC... perhaps I will try my luck with both 965 and 975 chipsets... maybe even the 650i.

Have you tried contacting Synnex salesperson? There were 20 or sth XBX2 shipped to Synnex and sold in SSP as told by a ex-synnex staff.
Abit is another story as the sole agent esys sucks.

I was last at SSP 3 days ago and nobody had any XBX2... one person had 1, but it was apparently reserved for someone else so I didn't take the matter any further.
I'll look into Synnex, though.

Although its lost its popularity, the P5W DH is still a great board. You can expect 450MHz out of the box with the newer ones, sometimes a hair higher if you're lucky. I prefer them over the P5B, and they're pretty even with the XBX2.

IMO you are not missing anything, the BX2 is good, but it isnt amazing.
If you can afford a striker, that could be a good solution, Do they not have a normal EVGA 680i?
Commando is good until things go wrong, and the P5W DH is also a good board that has done 500 FSB.
If it is all the same, buy a BX2 used off of XS, I know Afireinside has one that has done ~460+ and I can imagine that you can find someone on here that will get one to you, but I do not see how it is better than a P5WDH.
Are the P5W64 WS pro or P5WDG2 WS pro available?

Umm.. I work six days a week.. I don't really have time to go looking in random directions in HK. Obviously you seem to know of other places, so why not just tell me? I live here - I'll know how to get there.
fhpchris: I actually haven't seen many P5W's hitting 450+... but if they do, it's certainly an option.

2.2v? I thought the newer rev 3 boards only allowed 1.8.. but I must be mistaken.

You could just ask a XS member to buy and ship a board to you? I could, but importing from a country with euro's would make it very expensive, a country with US $ would be a better choice.

Well the highest Vmch i can adjust is 1.85v, maybe you have to mod it to adjust it higher.

I've spoken to FHPCHRIS about this, and we both came to the conclusion that I would just lose out too much on shipping.
