Games that'll run on a laptop...
I am looking for some recommendations for games that will run on a laptop with the following specs:
Asus A8J
--------
Core Duo T2300 1.66GHZ (Yonah core)
ATi Mobile Radeon X1600 256MB
1 GB 5400 Ram
So if anybody can recommend me some games that'll fun fine on this, and are good fun to play, please post them

Pretty much anything current at low/medium settings will work. BF2, BF2142, etc. take your pick.

BF2.. bah.
Well, I am using XP SP2 and here is a list of games which I can confirm run well enough to play on my lappy:
KOTOR
KOTOR2
NBA Live 2007
Tiger Woods 2007
Tropico
Fallout 1/2
Civ 4/Warlords
Deus Ex
Half Life
Half Life 2
HL2: Ep 1 (though it performs worse than Hl2 at same settings)
BF2
NFSC
But besides that... I haven't got any other games and am looking to get one that'll run fine on this lappy.
Of course I don't just want any game, I want a GOOD game... thing is, I haven't really been in touch with new game releases, particularly those which run well on lower end systems *cough* supreme commander...

right now I can run just about any game close to max settings at 1280x800 on my lappy. Im sure once I put a C2D in it things will be smoother

I can barely run HL2: Ep 1 actually.
And I am waiting for the Bios update of the A8J before I can put in a T7200. Plan to get the new Fujitsu 160GB SATA2 2.5" HDD as well, come April.

A great laptop game would be Titan Quest. Demanding, yes, but we play it with a C2D 2Ghz, ATI X1400 256mb setup with 1gb of ram fine. It needs medium detail for a good framerate though its impressive for a laptop.
Maybe next year we will see better advances in graphics power and she could upgrade.

UT2K4 will run on anything within the last five years, so it surely can run on your laptop. Runs alright on a Satellite with Celeron M and a Radeon x200 for the video. It would haul on your's.

Yeah I've been playing TQ... am at Babylon now. Level 28 pure Pyromancer and loving it. However, I play it on low details because it helps to avoid the "rubberband" issue with the game. I get that bad if I run on anything higher than low settings for everything.
Medieval 2 is another game that runs quite well, though all on low. Massive armies really tax the system though.
Been playing a lot of Tribes 2 lately on Australian servers... that runs well at full details.

TQ is a blast...and its even cooler that she plays with me from her laptop
She runs it at 1280x800, with the settings at medium, low, medium, low and no AA, VSync ON (unbearable tearing without it) and it runs pretty good. That's the best setup I could find for framerate/IQ without killing too much of either.

I assume you're talking about your GF? Lucky that she plays games with you. Mine just wants to play management games, like the sims
I've got Immortal Throne lying around as well, but haven't beaten the main game yet. Glad to see another TQ'er on here!
