Question Any Other Apparatuses That Move Air?

I've wondered this for a while. What other apparatuses are there, that move air? There's the traditional fan with with blades mounted around an axle (made with and without box frames, and typically have 3 or more blades or many small blades like in a jet engine), then there's the blower (sometimes called "squirrel cage" fan, that look kinda like a short crossflow fan inside of a small box, like the kind of video cards and found in building ventilation systems), and cross flow fans like the one you can buy for the Stacker Case, by Cooler Master.

So, is there anything else? And it has to be something that could be used to cool a device, move air from one space to another, and/or move air through a duct. Anything like compressed air in tanks or containers, air compressors, or air pumps don't count.

Yeah, the only other thing i can think of is an ion fan, but im not sure i would want that much of electricity just kinda hangin' out around my pc pushing air. There are a few other things that i can think of, but they involve an insane amount of work for a pitiful amount of air.

Um... exposure to air thats been ionized, over years will cause all kinds of health problems! Thats not something I'd want anywhere near me. LOL Didn't you guys know that sharper image was sued for that? If you own one, get back your money if you can. It's a health hazzard.

Yeah, you don't want that sh*t in your house man. Might as well just breath in a bunch of asbestos, talc, and cigarette smoke while you're at it.

I guess technically you could set up a large air pump up with your case. Something like an iron lung for your case, only let it pump air from / back out to one side of your case with the part that expands/contracts being on the other.

It'd probably work fairly well if it was large enough... though for size / expense / loudness... probably no so much worth it.

Well, if you count baffles as air pumps they're out.

The squirrelcage fan... No, I'm not making that up. It's much more efficient than the flat fans we use. I don't know if small versions are made. There's one in your furnace (If you have forced-hot-air heating).
