Lutz Says New Corvette Due by 2009

Quote:
Rumors have been circulating for quite some time about an even powerful Corvette to take on the exotics in the supercar playing field. Even though no official name has been given to the limited-edition Corvette, Bob Lutz has confirmed a 600+ horsepower model that will be appearing in 2009 for the 2010 GM lineup. Lutz told Automotive News, "There is a distinct appetite for something beyond the Z06 in performance, beyond the Z06 in exclusivity and beyond the Z06 in price."

What will the new Z06 boast in terms of performance? One could guess that a forced induction application will be in charge of reaching that high goal that Lutz mentioned. With only 3,000 Z06's created every year, it will quite a feat to both afford and land one of these "Super Vettes".

On the C5 it was Electron Blue. On the F-Body it was Navy Blue Metallic. On the GTO it is Midnight Blue Metallic. Not sure about the C6, but they can call it whatever they want.
