Talking Upcomming PC Games Of 2007 Previews!

It’s the beginning of 2007, and yes this means DX10 technology, more powerful processors, more hardware to drool over, the new ATI chip coming out, yadda, yadda, yadda… but there’s no point in having that power unless you’re going to use it to immerse your self into new worlds and incredible adventures!

XS members (especially me) are going to break down the hottest most anticipated unreleased PC games coming out 2007. (Each one will be added to the first post, when its completed) These articles will talk about what is expected from these games based on info found all over the web, so we’re doing the research for you! Included will be links to videos (56k beware!), official sites, interviews, screenies, and lots more! We won’t blab on about opinions or useless information, but there are a lot of features and new innovations to tell about. So read every word!

When each game is actually released, we’ll tell you what our thoughts are on the product compared to the expected results, and tell you if the game is all hype before you spend your cash on it.

Also note that information will be included with each game in the form of icons, that will notify the reader if the game can be played on DirectX 9, 10, or both, what rating the game is, format of the game media, and if the game will also available on console systems. Click on the icons for more information.

Hopefully we’ll cover every genre. As for me, I will only cover the 3 basic action genres, which are First Person Shooter (FPS) Real Time Strategy (RTS), Role Play (RP), and mixed breeds of those. Anyone who wants to write an article, may review any upcoming game they want and I’ll add it to the first post.

(Can I get a sticky?)

ETA: JUNE 1, 2007

First up is Bioshock by Irrational Games, the long awaited spiritual successor to System Shock 2, which will be exclusive to Windows and Xbox 360. Completely unaware of what Irrational had in store for them, SS2 fans (like me ) have been asking for some kind of sequel to that game for years. So it goes without saying that there are a lot of people who have very high expectations for this game. This highly anticipated RP/FPS promises not only deliver incredible graphics (including specially designed water effects by a third party designer), but also to deeply immerse the player into an incredible and horrifying story that takes place in a city beneath the sea!

The city, built by a scientist during the WWII era as an escape from what the world had become in that time, was once inhabited by a hand picked group of scientists, artists, and industrialists. But they destroyed his vision of a utopia with their greed, corruption, and immorality. Now, you as the player are trapped in this frightening place and you’ll have to utilize everything available in order to survive, and manage to escape before the decaying city its crushed by the ocean with you in it!

Some of the major things you can do in this game to fight your way through it, are invest in x-men like powers obtained through genetic upgrades, modify and customize weapons by using parts from other things found around the levels, manipulate enemies and set them against one another, impersonate enemies to trick them into protecting you from other enemies, and even take control of flying security bots to follow you around and protect you! As you run around trying not to die, tripping over plenty of corpses and running into terrifying enemies (some that can walk on walls and ceilings or fly!), you’ll uncover the past of the city and learn how it became a living hell. And you will need that information to help you survive!

In this game the way your character and his fate are shaped, is not only determined by the way you genetically alter your body, how powerful you make your weapons, how well you manage to outsmart your enemies, or even how many supplies you manage to scavenge. The player will be forced to make moral choices and decide what sacrifices they are willing to make in order to survive, and these choices also decide his fate and how he develops. This game is very different from what you’ve come to expect from the gaming industry, and you’ll realize that as soon as you see the video clips!

Be warned, as this game is very scary and violent, with a mature story line. So please parents, be aware that it will be rated Mature. This is definitely not for kids!

If Bioshock is half as good as System 2, it'll be great.

I'm looking foward to Command and Conquer 3... and suprisingly Spore.

I am more a FPS kinda guy but I've always had a weak spot for C&C games, for the obvious reason's (fun as hell).

Spore looks like it will be pretty damn fun to play too, I could see the novelty of it get tiring quick, but I def wanna give it a try.

If anyone wants to add another review, type it up and PM it to me. I'll add it to the first post. Of course you should assume I may have to edit it for length, fix grammer, spelling, the usual stuff. I won't change it or mutilate it or anything. No worries. I've done it before.

Yeah, and this looks like its going to be scarier than System Shock 2! That game scared me so bad I fell out of a chair once! It took me some courage to get back on, but it was worth it. Aside from being scared so bad I turned white, that game was wicked sick! I played through that game so many damn times... I ended up memorizing where every little item in every room was in every level. Everyone had an enemy they hated in that game... for me... I think it was those damn spiders. The huge black bodies with the long skinny arms... the way they made that chattering sound, and they way they jumped at me and went "HISS!!!" UGH!! SH*T I hated those things! The wasps nests that were in some of the eggs were almost as bad. They'd form a cloud that followed you everywhere and you couldn't kill them with anything... but they died after only about 20 seconds and fell to the ground.

What scared me so bad is the time I first entered the Recreation Level on deck.. 4 I think it was. I sat in the main area for like 10 minutes going through all the stuff I brought up with me in the elevator. I organized my inventory, stacked stuff neatly so I could grab it in case of an emergency like if I was poisoned and needed an antidote, charging weapons and armor, fixing and maintaining things, taking stock in my ammo and research chemicals, and making sure I had enough injection hypos for getting hurt while exploring a much harder area.

So after all that piece and quiet, I started to very slowly make my way out of the elevator room, then suddenly the ventilation ducts collapsed and a bunch of worms started jumping out at me from the wreckage... I tried to back away from them while struggling to select my melee weapon since worms aren't worth the bullets, and I run right into this deformed mutant crewman with a worm hanging out of his head and going into his stomach, screaming at me in my face to kill him!

I was already leaning on the edge of my chair, and I got scared so bad I fell off! I looked up at the screen and the mutant suicides me with a grenade! I'm hurt from the explosion but not bad thanks to my armor, but all of a sudden this damn monkey screams at me and telepathically shoots a freakin fireball at me, which blows up a security camera, setting off the alarm. And wouldn't you know it, now everyone on the level knows where the @$#% I am and this damn robot is after me now! I get shot from both sides of the hallway at the same time by a fire bomb and an energy ball, and die... I didn't even have a chance to get back in the chair and save my self.

I was sure glad the game autosaved when you reach a new deck. LOL Had to take a break after that humiliating defeat though...

The scariest moment for me in System Shock 2 was where the rumbler is first introduced on the monorail system.

For those who dont know the game you're trying to get to the bridge to try and release the rickenbacker away from the main infected ship in the attempt to escape. In order to do so you have to take a monorail system to get to the bridge.

The one area im refering to is just after fighting robotic assassins who are used as security guards and it leads to a dark hallway which opens up to a brighter lit monorail dock. Half way down the hall you start to hear screams of some women and the sound of something really really big charging at her.

As you reach the end of the hall there are the usual windowed automated doors and you watch this huuuuge beast of a creature with long claws....

....breaks open the closed steel door to the left past the glass doors that the women shut behind her. She tries to run at you for help but the "Rumbler" grabs her inches away from your screen and rips her in half and tosss the corpse aside and starts to charge at you.

That was about as scared as ive ever been in a game. Soon as i saw that thing come through the steel door i just about wet myself as I pulled out my Assault Rife, switched to hollow-point rounds and changed it to auto. I put a good 50 rounds in that thing while running like a sob because when they hit you it causes significant knock-back which added to the effect.

SS2 was the greatest game ever

Someone mentioned "Left for Dead" to me and I'm pretty psych about its release. Mainly for the co-op with some friends could be a lot of fun.

The Witcher

not medival....but it's an action-oriented role-playing game inspired by the works of Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski and is powered by the BioWare Aurora Engine

EMPIRE EARTH III
Genre: RTS.

SUPPORTS/Features:
Dualcore: Probably.
Multicore: ???
DX9: Yes.
DX10: ???
Recommended GPU: An NVIDIA utilized game.
Online: Yes.

Quick notes: Developers going back to step 1; Redoing everything Empire Earth 2 failed(they even said it was rushed! so no more of that this time). For short, they're starting over the whole series!

There are random quests like rescue princess (+chance of alliance/rewards).

> Official Website

Chinese: "OMG, we are still in Imperial age!!!"

**Simply gorgeous**
