tuniq tower 120 performance?

How does the tuniq tower 120 perform on a opty 165? I can't find any reviews or anything of it tested on opterons.

I'm planning on air cooling my comp again. I'm hoping i would be able to keep it stable at 2.8-3ghz on air. Case of choice would be a pc-7b plusII to keep proper airflow.

my guess is that you will stay between 55-60c depending on the voltage that you are using.

edit: ok, so in your sig you have 1.475. I overclocked an a64 x2 socket 939 to 2.5 on that same vcore using a big typhoon. The fan spun at 800rpms and temps did not rise over 53c. Make sure you lap the tuniq if you get it.

The TT should be flater then you can get by hand laping. If yours isn't you should get it returned. As far as a Opt 165. I had mine on a TT for about 3 months before my Apt got broken into and it was stollen. At 1.45 with a Silverstone FM121 inside at full speed I was runing 2.9 at ~47C load with a Amb of 21C. I had it in a moded P180 case.

CoreTemp reads 28C idle / 50C load on a naked Opty 170 @1.475v, ambient temps ca 80F. Best air cooler I've ever had.

Do you guys think it would be noticeably better than an XP-90? I have my Opty 165 @2.8Ghz on one and it idles at 26C and hits up to 65C on sustained Orthos Load.

tt 120 will be a lot better than an xp90. Flatter than you can get it by hand? I can make an ultra flat, mirror finish thats always better than stock. Have you ever lapped a heatsink before?

I used to have a opty 165 CCB1E running at 3ghz with 1.5vcore that was about max load 55C with a zalman 9500 with 80CFM fan. I'm positive you will get better results with the infinity as long as you have a decent stepping. Oh and as a side note i used liquid metal for my TIM.

The infinity is a lot better but you're probably better off getting a faster fan blowing on your xp-90. I also have the xp90 and it works best with high cfm fans like the vantec tornado. The vantec tornado is really loud though so u might wanna find something else.

I have a ~48CFM Panaflo 90mm fan on it right now. Other than the Tornado, I'm not sure what I can put on it that would be faster.

wow really good input on cooling solutions thanks. a few months from now ill be sent to my new duty station for the navy so making my computer smaller and more practical will make things a little easier when I move. I wont be doing the rebuild right away, and to be perfectly honest I may just let my parents have the computer, or sell it,but we'll see.
