QX6700ES @4836MHz under Cascade [4817MHz=Spi1M@10.469s]
Quote:
System:
QX6700 Engineering Sample L633A723
Quent's Asus P5B-Deluxe (Vdroop by Quent; Vcore, Vdimm & Vmch mods by Before)
STT Before's Xtrem 2*512Mb
Windows 2k3 Server (tweaked by Before)
Western Digital IDE 80Gb
2-Stager Unit @ -100C
Vcore = ~1.70V (1.66 to 1.76V)
Vddr = 2.74V
Vmch = 1.87V
|
Very impressive chip in the beginning, this QX6700ES benched Super Pi 1M @4804MHz @1.66V (with 3 disable cores), but finally failed to scale over 4836MHz even with more voltage.
CPU-Z Suicide
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=142460
Check the reading of the temp... -9C is obviously wrong; it must be -70C or so (evaporator temp was about -85C; actually, it used to be -86C unloaded under Win 2k3 but -90C under Win XP... interesting to note )
Spi 1M @10.515s
Spi 32M @11m 18.172s
Didn't play with the timings for this 32M run. These are the SPD timings. Also, this might not be to highest Spi32M benchable operating frequency... just a run for fun.
3D Mark 2001 SE succeeded @4600MHz (all 4 cores enable), BTW with my 7600GS the results aren't very interesting. I hardly need a better graphic card in order to do 3D benchmarks.
Thx for reading!

Great results...
Is that QX6700 much hotter than X6800?

Thank you guys!
@LD: It doesn't look like significantly hotter than the X6800; actual evap temp is not really different.
Under Win XP running the QX6700 4600MHz@1.76V with 4 cores enable, the evap reads -90C which corresponds more or less to what can be expected from the X6800 under similar conditions.

You're unstoppable my friend. Perhaps the temp similarity between the X6800 and X6700 is due more to those dual 1HP rotaries and good tuning.
Btw, speedfan seems to read the internal diode, which doesn't seem to function below 0. On some CPU's it reads -9, sometimes +9, sometimes even +/- 15. Obviously it can be ignored. :S
When you compared temps between Win2K3 and WinXP, did WinXP also have LargeSystemCache enabled?

@Gautam: Thx bro!
Actually, speedfan was somehow correct with other CPUs, reading -95C to -60C depending on load, operating frequency and vcore. It looks like the QX6700 internal diode is out of breath!
The only serious trouble so far was when using a E6600 on a Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe which seems to have its own sensor (showing -120C for -100C evap or something ).
LargeSystemCache is enable on my XP
@ncsa: Thank you my friend! It's nice to see here too.
@Kabauterman, erwinz & thenrz: Thx for these kind words
So, I've performed some more testing today. Let me share the stuff.
First of all, I've managed to improve the max frequency in order to bench Spi1M and of course getting a faster time...
[Super Pi 1M] 10.469s
Then, I've done 3DMark06 and AquaMark3 @stock...
[3DMark06 CPU] 4023pts
[AquaMark3] 15.831pts
... and @4608MHz for 3DMark and @4660MHz for AquaMark3
[3DMark06 CPU] 6705pts
[AquaMark3] 24.862pts

 I'm definitely not a 3D freak BTW I may have a 8800 in few weeks in order to do some 3D stuff.
