mem vmod for 7900GT/GS?
Hey guys,
Is there an easy vmod I can do for the memory on my 7900GS? I don't solder, so I'm looking for something that can be done with conductive pen. Lmk, thanks.
P.S. another subject, buddy just got a 7800gs agp, it has a cold bug at 38c. Did some reading on it around here on it, did they ever put out a bios to fix the cold bug or did someone mod one? thanks again.

I have never seen a conductive pen mod for this series of cards, Shamino has probably got a similar pencil mod for it over on vr-zone I would guess. I seem to recall Jason ( aka Mickeymouse ) worked it out, unless I am mixing it up with the 6800GS ?? Actually I think that was the 6800GS. But he should still have done the pencil mod for it I think....
Regards
Andy

you can do the pencil mod from the VR-link.
however, be very carefull, as the stock vmem for the 7900GS is 2.15v, compared to the 2.0v on the 7900GT like the link has.
i just did the vmem mod yesterday, and my mem didnt see much of an increase in terms of max game stable. do the conductive pen vgpu mod first, and the mod for the bucket frequency. you will see the most benefit from those mods.
EDIT: btw, over about 675mhz core, the ram speed becomes much more crucial. around there, you can increase the core speed and see very little speed increase compared to upping the mem speed.

Playa, I just got a 7900gs yesterday and already did the vgpu and vmem mods. What's this bucket frequency mod you're talking about? Do you have a link explaining it?
