    8800GTX whining sound w ATItool

When I run Atitool, I can hear a whining sound from my 8800GTX.
When running other 3d apps, like 3dmark06, FEAR etc, I can hear some kind of a buzzing sound.

First I thought it was my PSU, not able to feed the monster enough, but then I stumbled over the resistor problem over at Legit Reviews.

    http://www.legitreviews.com/article/417/1/.

I checked mine, and to my horrible surprise, I can see that someone did change the resistor( it looks like ), but it doesn't look clean at all. The white marking nearby, are miscoloured, looks burned..

Damn, I was so close buying a new PSU, but now it seems it's the 8800GTX thats the problem, or what do you guys think?

    Thanx in advance!

Pretty sure the resistor doesn't cause the sound. Mine looks like it was done in a rush too.

With regard to the noise. Its looking like a common problem I wouldn't worry about it. Chances are they all make the same noise underload.

Thankfully mine is silent so far. The burnt bit is just flux, it won't hurt. Shame they didn't give it a squirt of PCB cleaner, gets it right off.

It's a vibrating fet. You can't fix it and it is normal for a regulator under stress.
