Dreaded cleanup
How do i remove Dope from the mobo. CRC contact cleaner barely makes a dent...
http://www.crazypc.com/products/9349.html
and I need to clean a P5W64 Pro up so that I can send it in for repairs at ASUS.
In the past they have repaired my boards for $40.00 but im certain if I send it in with dope around the socket they will reject the repair.

Not sure about that one... liquid electrical tape can be peeled off rather easily...

My stupidity...I tried tightening the head mount to get a better contact and started having trouble with the system booting. I discovered that I had a flex in the mobo so I tried tightening down the board more and a washer slipped over and shorted something...
Like i said my stupidity...
What is IPA?

What exactly is Dope?
I always use Acetone to clean cards and mobos. But I'm not familiar with Dope.

Yip acetone kicks ass, I wouldn't leave it on a pcb for too long tho. i.e. dont soak your mobo in it over night.
I'm with pete on the dope thing
You could also try some scc3 remover gel, it's designed spesficly to rmove scc3 which is a kick ass conformal coating.

Thanks folks:
Tried : Aceton no go, CRC QD helped some, rubbing alcohol...
Todo try some paint thinner??
Dope is a waterproofing substance that seems to act like paint once it sets.

Sorry i didn't notice your link on my first read.
No I would never leave acetone on over night, it would damage the plastic. I only use it to rinse off grease and conformal coat. I dip a tooth brush in the acetone to scrub with and then use a spray bottle to rinse off with.

Dope is basicaly clear lacquer. I dont know about acetone, I would think it would damage the board as much as the dope but maybe if you work fast you will be ok. Bad situation.

look on label to see what base compound it is made of and find something to dissolve that without dissolving mobo. depending on what you used that may not be possible. or Contact manufacturer of material and ask what dissolves it,they will know as they have to clean the machines that mix and bottle it.
since mobo makers use sst to produce them , they won't want to put a board thats fubar'ed in a expensive machine to make the repair.
