Noob question -- dont laugh

On my past AMD setups when I had my rigs overclocked at unsatble settings I would get random lockups or possibly a bsod.

Fast forward:
Conroe cooled -15c on average load modest OC of 4.1ghz with vCore actual 1.60. I can be be folding on both cores for 18 or 20 hours and a couple of times now I have had random shutdowns...wam complete power offs. I have a crappy 600watt PSU that dips under 12amps on the prime rails but its close...

So am I right in assuming this is probably related to the unstability of the CPU at the current vCore and FSB x Multi? Or is this possibly a PSU error or worse a condensation leak somewhere...grrr..

I have not spent a lot of time working with the ASUS boards but I have also heard that its not that uncommon for this to be a board related problem.

I would probably suspect an unstable o/c before assuming any components are faulty. Your best bet for better help is to list all your BIOS settings. I'm talking about vMCH, vICH, vFSB, PCI freq., etc. If your temps are under control, it just may be that something needs more volts.

well if u have extreme cooling, i would set everything to max .... make sure u cool the NB ,SB well. Also, u might need to vmod P5W DH to get higer, i tihnk.

P5W DH vdroop a lot, so thats prolly why its unstable at that clock ...

since you have such nice cooling, why dont you set your vcore .25-.5 higher and bench it up to 24 hrs.

With overclocking I noticed the PWM chips which if I didnt overclock would not know anything about.

Overclock and watercooling running at 4.1ghz , wow. Hopefully I will see that too.Keep on dreaming nooh.

um even with the cooling that much vcore is still abd for the cpu!!!!!! i think that anything over 1.5 for 24/7 is to much!!!!!! trying bring it back to 4ghz and see what happens form there if it's stable then you know your problem!!!!!! and 4ghz is a hell of a nice oc on a conroe!!!!!

oh btw what project are you running? you wouldn't happen to bring that beast over to the WCG section would you?

Ok guys heres the scoop it was a corrupted install of XP. I was pushing some numbers higher using Clockgen and I crashed a few times to many.
After trying every possible scenario including running at stock settings and still having the same problems I decided to wipe my raptor raid 0 and reinstall fresh. Problem is gone and have been running 4.0 duel prime95 all night at 1.60 vCore. Regarding the voltage settings it has been shown that voltage is not as dangerous when running below 0c as it is when running other forms of cooling and sense I rarely keep my chips more than 4 months I am not as concerned with voltage migration as I would be if I intended to use the chip for longer. Thank you all for your help and quick replies. I would have responded sooner but I have been deep into trouble shooting this weekend.

Regarding the WU's....I am folding for Overclock.net and wouldnt want to let those guys down by switching teams.

Thanks again.
