Haha, have fun with that one. Even though kentsfield is probably going to come out a 1000 bucks anyway, I wouldn't pay a 50% premium to have it two montsh in advance. Bleh
How can these ebay'ing commies get an ES but not a lot of legitimate overclockers (and reviewers)? (This is assuming that the ebay listing is legit).

It's a B1 so that's a good sign. Multi should go higher than 10 though...

Seems stupid paying 2-3x the normal value for a test version of a processor. Just to say you have it 2 months earlier.

Actually it's about 1.5-1.6x the normal price. Kentsfield is an Extreme Edition only processor, so $1000 will be the MSRP.
I still wouldn't buy it though.

I agree with that...but its probably more like 1.5x what it will be when it comes out...and when it comes out pricing of x6800 and all down the conroe line will probably be cut a bit...so youre loosing no matter where you buy. Its just the same as usual, the higher end you buy, the more you loose in the end. And since this is xtremesystems, I think that having it 2 months earlier is a big deal for a lot of people. (not me...Im just saying it could be worth it to some ppl)

That's an expensive bragging right.
"Yay, high Sandra scores"
That's it...

People who think they will find the retail Kentsfield for $1000 when it comes out, are fooling themselves. The X6800 was supposed to retail for same price. How many places carry it for $1000. None.
I think Kentsfield is good for more than just Sandra. It will crush Conroe in any kind of rendering application.

Why do people keep saying "2 months"? Last I heard, Kentsfield isn't coming out in November.

But also remember that this isnt a final stepping. I am sure there are at least a few routing bugs that Intel is working out. I mean, if you read some reviews, you cant even run some games on it without multiprocessor errors (CoD2?). If it was ready, it would be on the market.
With these flaws in mind, paying the premium for an ES is ludicrous. But hey, whatever, its not my money thats going to it.
Also, who the hell gets to sell their ES? I would pretty much kiss any Intel execs butt for just the chance to TRY kentsfield, much less get a processor to KEEP and even SELL! geeze, some people are just spoiled.

Has nothing to do with being spoiled. Some people have the money, while others don't. Some people want to have it, others don't. Some people have been in the workforce a long time and feel they've earned their toys, while others get most of their toys from their parents.
There are a lot of Americans who wouldn't even blink at shelling out $60-70,000, in cash, for a Mercedes. Processors are dirt cheap compared to expensive cars.

The CoD2 is likely to come as a patch or bios update. Since other games, even 2004 worked fine.
Kentsfield is where it is headed. In a year, try running two or three progs at the same time that are multicore aware and you'll bring Conroe's to their knees once again. Software always rises to fill the cpu cycles. And the worst offender of all is putting out a new OS...
If you can afford it you can. No sense in arguing. How many times do people come here and wonder why we deep freeze a mobo and toss it out after? To some that would be an unthinkable risk. People buy ES processors, sometimes to keep, sometimes to play and turnaround, and that's just the way of it.
And yes, signs indicate Kentsfield will be here in late Oct early Nov.

I think that people buy thier ES samples.
I mean, im pretty sure intel deliberatly leaked them, same as with conroe, that way us xtreme people are already breaking records with them on release day.

Newegg and ZipZoomFly already have X6800 for (just) under $1000 delivered.
Intel's Extreme processors are usually introduced at $1000, why should Kentsfield be any different?

Name one reseller that sold the X6800 for $1000 at launch. I believe Newegg's initial price was around $1350. Also, the $999 price on Kentsfield is for people buying a thousand processors.
It's all about supply and demand. If supply is low and demand is high, the price will also be high. Resellers will often charge a premium at launch anyway because they know some people will pay anything to be the first to get their hands on new hardware.
Anyway, good luck finding Kentsfield for $999 at launch. You'll need it.

They are not. Employes can get em very easy and leak/sell em. Intel is looking into who is signing out ES cpus to sell.
