XAuto-C

Hey all...

I`m ing idiot, so I decided to build an autocascade in small case (unseen case, it`s great !).

So...I did it today, it has taken me 7h to build it.

Specification:

Compressor -- Aspera 1/2HP 12ccm (NE2134GK)
Condesner -- small from unseen case.
Evap -- Kayl style, I bought it from Raven, it`s great.
Phase separator -- empty filter (60g).
Main HX -- my project, I hope it will work good.
Extras -- HX before phase separator, manometer (connected to low side).
Captubes -- 250cm on high side (R290) and 270cm on low side (CO2).

Uhh...I very, very tired now It was hard job to pack everything to that small case

Sorry for photos quality and that mess inside case, I don`t have power to clean it today, I will do it tomorrow...and tomorrow will be first start of the unit.

BTW, I don`t know how that condenser will perform, so that`s why I added small hx before phase sep, to help with condensing high stage gas.

My phase separator

Main HX, tomorrow I will add sheme of it.

Compressor in the case

Evap with long suction line.

lol, small hx, my project

So let`s start braze

............

After 7 hours...

.............

that`a all.

I must go to bed now

You are just insane If that thing realy works like we all want it to it may just be the best 24/7 machine around. I'm just worried about the small HXs working eficently enough. You might actually be able to fit and larger HX in that case. 1/8 tube inside 8mm tube. You can make it very very small or like 2 coils that go around the whole case. I'm pretty sure you could make a 5m long HX and put it in that case.

But anyways good luck. Ill be waiting how this thing goes

I`m pretty sure, that you`re right, but I don`t have any pipes now, huh, and no money

I just have awaken, I will eat something and make HX sheme.

Looks fair, but if you had it already brazed, i had tried with SLHX.
Let's see what the little HX can do alone

The one of the reasons why I unbrazed it, was the system of piping in there...I really don`t know about what I thinked or dreamed, when I was doing that small slhx...piping was really bad, suction line was connected with high stage etc...

I was so tired yesterday, good that I tested unit with pressure before I turned it on, but now it`s ok.

Within 1h I will show some temps I think.

Ok, so, as I promised, few photos of working...and as the most important...autocascading system

Please notice, unit is all naked, without " of armaflex (only on evap to insulate thermocouple).

First temp at all...not bad.

Have a look at the whole unit. I`m pretty sure that you see that leack lock on few connections. Everything is brazed, pressure tested...I borrowed that LL from my friend few days ago, so why not use it for extra safety ?

Pressures at -45*C on evap. (1,2bar/19bar, so it`s autocascading now).

We`re going lower...

....

The lowest temp :

Ambient temp in my room is now +29*C, system is naked. I think with insulation and some tuning unit will reach -60*C.

Weird evap position

"snow" on suction

End pressures at -53*C on evap (1,8bar/21bar)

And the last photo:

That`s everything for now, tomorrow I will buy some insulation for that unit, install manometer on the front of the case...

so, please comment what do you think about that ?

New temp:

Without insulation Huh, I`m wondering how low it will go with some armaflex and final tuning

BTW, static pressure 7bar.

I would put the captube inside the suction line.

Regards

John.

Leak Lock is used for threads only and not for anything other like brazing joints or sealing surfaces!

Nice unit!
