Since I'm feeling so incredibly lazy - i blame the heat - I'm renaming my cooling upgrade project to "Project Sloth".
I'd write some interesting stuff but... I'm feeing too lazy ^_^
Here's whats going in:
- 3x Yate Loon D14SM-12 28dBA, 62CFM 140mm fans.
- T-Balancer BigNG automated programmable fan controller, to replace my T-Ban SL4 (new one does analog fan tuning).
- Digital waterproofed sensor to replcae my current analogue one. LM75A-based, 0.125c resolution.
- PA120.3, with custom shroud... not showing materials because the cardsheets are BIG... and just flat pieces of card. =p
- Iwaki RD-30 with DC-DC converter instead of PSU because I'm weird that way. =p
- Swiftech MCX195-CU to replace the crappy ASUS alu heatsink on my R580 Northbridge.
- Swiftech MCR14 to replace crappy ASUS alu heatsink on my mobo's power regulation.
- EKWaterBlocks FCX1900 delrin top for my FCX1800 block.
- EKWaterBlocks 14mm OD barbs for my Storm.
- Opteron is getting DeIHS'd, you can see the craft knife and the 1/32 sticky-backed neoprene ill be making pads with (thanks Fresh Daemon!)
- Case is getting soundproofed, you can see the main side-panel is done already.
- 5/8 T-Pieces thanks to vcore.dk!
- 5/8 ID masterkleer between pump inlet and t-piece, thansk to Petra who ordered and shipped 3 feet to me accross the pond.
- Oh and main loop will be using 7/16ID Tygon S-50-HL surgical-grade tubing.

Epoxy on probe set enough for me to take pictures.
The probe itself comes protected by some clear heatshrink out of the box. I cut out the heatshrink over the LM75A sensor, then coated the whole thing in artic alumina. The LM75A chip itself is very near the top of the probe, which is to say its actively sticking into the waterflow. Its a 12mm ID T-Piece so I'm not overly concerned of the effect on loop flow

Well today was nice and hot so I hung about in the park doing nothing much at all ^_^
I'm back now though (rejoice!) so I got this done at least. Came out a lot better than I thoght it would, with hands as unsteady as mine I'm always a bit trepidant about handling a drill (well, dremel, but same difrence).
Now thats done and the case is hoovered I'll be working on the soundproofing. Well, 1st I gotta pick up more vinegar & ketchup, and then wait till climates gotten a little cooler (4 hours or so =p), but thats just
details, right?

Found a good position for the rad.
Note that the rad isnt actually touching the floppy, there is about 1mm clearance. Plenty of space for the power buttons above the DVD.
Now the rad comes out again so I can put in the mobo and all that, then I'll cut up the tubing. Tomorrow its shroud & leaktest day, then I'll be done! Finally!

Its all coming together, finally!
Its been leaktesting since last night while i finished up on everything but the mosfet/nb shroud with is just a rough mockup for me to take some measures, and the filter mount.
I love these fans, theyre slightly audible @ 12v, a shade louder than D12SLs but with a lower tone, and when theyre at full blast you can really feel the 186CFM combined being sucked through the front
Oh and while the RD-30 gets pretty toasty @ 24v, it stays just warm @ 15v. Ill do some perf tests but I think 15v will be it.
Some liberal use of tape there to make a tight seal ^_^
Just a little airflow director to pull some flow through the hard drives. The soundproofing on the soundpanel will do the rest of the work.
