P5W DH and JMicron EIDE controller, drives don't show up in XP
Having a few issues with the controller. 1) I have my DVD Burner on the 975X IDE controller, that's it. 2) I have 3 SATA drives on the 975X controller. 3) I have 2 IDE drives on the JMicron controller.
All 5 HDDs show in BIOS (when I go to HDD Boot menu, but *never* on the first page of the BIOS, where you can configure individual HDD properties--I can either get the three SATA drives or the two IDE drives to show). The two JMicron-connected drives don't show in Windows Installer because I didn't slipstream drivers (so nothing unexpected there). The two Jmicron-connected drivers don't show in XP, before or after the driver install, regardless of the mode I put them in (Basic, AHCI, RAID).
I have tried (literally) every option in BIOS for HDD config (Compatibility and all sub-options, enhanced and all suboptions, and disabled)....the ones that didn't boot (but still showed HDDs, so the RAID and AHCI suboptions), I'd install a new Windows on it, still no bones.
One time I did get an Error 10 (device can not be started or something) on the install of the driver, but it went away after a restart.

had similar issue on bios 0078, drives would intermittantly dissapear, so i flashed to 0602, set ide config controller to enhanced sata+pata and the mixture worked . one thing i did do was disable the jmicron( i don't use it)
i run 2 raptors, 2 opticals and a 120 gig ide this way.

On 0602 right now...I'll try enhanced sata+pata again.
Out of curiosity, how did you not use JMicron if you had 3 IDE drives? Was one optical SATA?
In the manual it says to install on the 975X controller first, does that mean I have to use both of those ports before I go to the JMicron?

no both opticals are ide, on same cable BLUE, then the 120 is in slave on other ide. and i never installed drivers or anything as far as in the OS, it all just recognized and worked in the bios after the RE flash to 0602

Hmmmm, the two drives I have on the 2nd IDE (JMicron) have never showed up in Windows
I've always had 0602, too.....
Let me try something, I'm gonna switch which cable goes where....I think 975x needs to be filled first.

Okay, I put the two IDE drives on 975X and it works....but the cable from the CDROM is too short to reach the JMicron, so that's a no-go, guess it's either-or until I get a longer cable.

seems you stumbled upon it, as I did.
The 12o gig is just laying on bottom of the case now. funny that it works that way but it does.

I honestly still don't know if the JMicron is working yet....I just found a longer cable, let me shut down and install it.
