unstable ram

alright my overclocking results are in my sig except for my ram, the cpu ran small fft's 24hrs with no errors or warnings, but the ram is a pain. The reason is because i can't find that sweet spot for it yet. See i can overclock, but this mushkin requires a little more attention, and more knowledge than the geil one S i previously used.

Right now the ram is on a 3/4 divider with timings 3-3-2-8@ddr484. I tried at first the 5/6 divider 3-4-4-8@ddr528 and aquamark and games would not boot properly, but superpi 1mb, and everest benching tests ran fine.

Typically i only tweak dividers and the 4 main ram timmings, but at this point i may need to learn a little more about the additional timings my board has to offer, and well thats why i'm here. My goal is to get my ram stable at ddr528.

I need all the advice and knowledge i can get.

I have found that if SPi and Sandra and Prime95 pass and 3D benches fail it is because of too high of an OC, not the ram. I can run a 344HTT with the setup in my sig and be rock stable in all benchies but as soon as I go to 345HTT 3Dmark03-05-06 will lock the PC. Back down to 344HTT and all is well.

But if you want to continue to tweak the memory try changing Tref, Trrd, and set 32byte granularity to enable. These are good places to start.

I actually figured out the problem. Before i used to have a sandy 3700, and everytime i would overclock i would always find my self using the 5/6 divider. But since i've had this opty 165 for a while and played with the settings, i discovered that it no longer likes the 5/6 divider, but the 3/4 divider. Its weird because it was the exact opposite with my sandy.

And no i can't post a a64 tweaker shot. It had some major problems on my computer so i had to delete it by booting in safe mode. Sorry

Right now i'm still running ddr500 on a 3/4 divider 3-3-2-8, but i've been tweaking it at those settings and managed to knock my everest latency down from 43ns+ to low 41's. It also ran 32mb super_pi successfully, occt, and am3.0. But if i could i would like to get my ram a little faster, but i'm not sure how much my cpu could take until it reaches its breaking point where i would have to major increases to cpu voltage and lose reliability.
