overtaking dpc by then end of the year

well its close as of now we are 158 days away which takes us to 2nd january 2006. all we need is to make sure we match any increases they make and get all of our machines crunching nicely and hopefully itll be done by Christmas

hopefully the current active recruiting will help as well.

Stats are misleading ...... the cows tend to "dump" in canidates at certain times. They'll maybe have a subteam that will do 100 - 200 thousand in one day. This will set us back a week at most. Also me thinks the cows will come back to the project if we start getting real close..... for now we are off their radar. They are currently "stampeding" fad.... Which really doesnt have me too much concerned with a d2ol "stampede" since they arent really doing all that well. Realistically we wont get them this year at our current rate. If we were doing 50 - 60 K a day we would take them down this year.

I like the sounds of that. I think once we are within about 2 or 1 mil within their score, I think our former forgotten members will start to crunch again. I think if we keep it by 40k til 2mil left, we will have a huge team revival and jump our daily to 50k.

once we come within a month of them i'm gonna fire up the surprise none the less

I can give a little hint to what it is:

    It's brand spanking new
Has SCSI onboard on the mobo
    Has 4 CPU's

Costs about 6000 euros per unit

    Guess what it is

Its an itanium, or an alpha chip of some sort, right. Rage2 and scsi are only on server boards with two or more cpu's. Maybe 4*opterons on that tyan motherboard.

Someone needs to help. I want to get 2 cpu's under 200seconds for a candidate, and my A-XP is SOOO close. Can anyone give me some ideas that will lower my time a little. Here is a screenie. Ram timings are 2.5-3-3-7.

Hmmm well geez nice to hear your enthusiasm but walk the walk dont talk the talk. We need canidates pure and simple .....

All you guys doing this math is making my head hurt. The cows "dump" in huge ammounts so the stats server it is worthless to look that far ahead. Also their "stampedes" as dumb as that might sound, are known to produce sizable ammounts. They stampede d2ol again we would need a miracle to pass them since we cant get past the 40 K hump.

Also team gaol seems to have an endless supply of repeating ammounts of canidates (no sorry not team gaol ..... Robert T. ...... no wait sorry again Robert T. sub teams unknown 200 computer strong lab at his work that has 3 lunch breaks)

UC, lets not get into this again shell we? I wouldn't want this to turn into another "miniwar" between XS and Gaol....

And don't you worry about walking the walk instead of talking the talk , you people'll find out soon enough (approximatly a month and a half from now )

BTW I haven't finished the LV rig yet
Still awaiting my Enermax 485Watt Dual 12V PSU and my last paycheck from my weekendwork. After that I'm can finally put it together (DAM I forgot, I need heatsinks, anyone got standart heatsinks I could buy from you for a low price? )

btw moddilicius is closest to it

I'll just tell, it's 2x 4 way Opterons (don't know the exact number they are but they are brand spanking new from end of june, not second hand stuff )
Both are SCSI equiped (So the HDD's are SCSI ) Have about 8 Gigs of Ram Each and are only used for web and mail servers. All relativly unloaded. They are used sometimes to render MAX files on or used as other renderbox's for multimedia graduates but hey.. everything helps right?

BTW my dorm where I'll be living has a few people with computers also (which student DOESN'T have a computer at his dorm? )

Maybe I can infect those to

I know this is kinda cheating as the nodes I add disappear every few days but here's what my intentions are:

I work as a PC tech & fix ppl's PC when it goes wrong...

What I've done is every machine that I've worked on or intending to work on, I install D2OL as a stress test for the PC to see whether it's reliable or not...

Is there a way of taking the same node number with you when you switch PC's??

I'm assuming that if I just copy the whole "C:\Program Files\SengentD2OL" directory from one PC when it leaves my hands, I can just whack it onto the next PC & fire it up & all be be good...

Is this true? Or is there some other method of transferring a node from one PC to another??

Forgive the n00b questions, just trying to contribute since I have to test the PC's that I work on & my PC's at home have a lot of spare cycles that go to waste...

I should have 3 PC's that constantly do D2OL & 4 part tiomers that do D2OL from 7:00pm til 10:00am every weekday & most of the weekends...

    Anyways, Onwards & Upwards...
I'll try to do the copy the directory thingy to keep the same number instead of having so many nodes that do nothing...

Hope to contribute to XS taking the Number 1 spot before the end of the year...

copy the node.prp file into a new install of D2OL on the machine and you will have the install will have the same ID number as your normal d2ol machine etc

Yeah I should lay off gaol for a minute ....... wait for their next dump to dissect it. I am now thinking about contacting sengent and asking them what can be done, do to detect repeating canididates. I am clearly not the only one that questions their output and quite frankly shocked by how many have expressed the same concerns I have, including members from other teams about their output.

Also I was merely pointing out that no one should give a "personal guarantee" about passing DPC since not even DDtung has firepower of that magnitude albeit himself alone is impressive (as he does more in one day than a lot do since they joined 6+ months ago ). Adding a few rigs and you are now doing some impressive numbers that that is great for you and your stats ........... but what about the team? A thousand or even 2-3 thousand isnt going to make our output jump significantly. We will still hang at 30K - 40k like we always do!

Anyhow Dutch BBQ in 06 ........... miracle pass for 2005! Unless someone has about a million canidates stored away somewhere?
