    any idea for building CPU block?

    hi,iam wondering is here any freak that builds his own cpu block that want to share pics or schemes so i can buid one?

    btw whats diference between phase cooling and water chiller?

    Phase-Change cooling uses the phase changing properties of refrigerants to absorb heat from the processor. Water cooling simply uses water to conduct heat from the processor. Phase-change cooling is more expensive but much much colder.

    Waterchilling is water cooling in which the coolant is cooled below ambient by a phase change system. Its a simplier and more flexible form of phase change cooling, but is also generally less powerful then direct die systems.

    For chilling, you use a standard waterblock. For direct die you use an evaporator which although similar in principle, is much much different in implimentation because it has to be able to withstand tremendious pressure compared to a waterblock.

    Chilly1 on these forums sells evaporators, and theres a sticky in the phase change subforum showing many types of evaporators. You should look there first.

    Much colder, but not necessarily more expensive. You can make a simple waterchiller for next to nothing if you know where to look. The tools and stuff are what gets you, but one you've got them you can make lots of systems for little (until you get into cascades.. thats another story). Well not exactly cheap if you want it to run for years, new parts are expensive.

    The evap is actually on the low side, so it'll be at 0 or negative gauge pressure when running. When off it'll be a lot higher, but generally still less then the high side. Actually if you added a huge enough suction side accumulator, you could build an evap that used a standard watercooling block. It'd be a PITA though, and you'd have to be damn sure about your pressures or you'd pop it as soon as the system switched off.

    That would be kinda cool but there are some pretty wild Evap designs out there...i have seen a few that are more comlicated then some of the most complicated CPU blocks that i have seen
