    Abit AS8 VDDR mod

Eventually someone would ask this, so here it is

Solder 10ohm variable or fixed resistor between R196 resistor side (closer to Winbond) and ground. After mod, vddr voltage is ~ -0.04V from psu 3.3V rail, so you have to raise your psu 3.3V rail to have higher vddr voltage than original 3.28V.

And yes, VTT voltage will stay perfectly 1/2 of VDDR voltage, so no further modding needed

    No additional pics, sorry
The board broke down, and I only had it for couple days

Take a multimeter, and search resistor around the Winbond chip, which gives you ~ 680ohm reading. Then solder a 10ohm variable or fixed resistor between the other side of resistor, and ground.

You've actually grounded the feedback input on the winbond?

It really is 1k ohm vr
I didnt have any other vr at the moment, so I had to use that 1k one PITA job to get it ajusted to 10ohms

The KV8-MAX3 use the same chip and the mod doesn't work on it, thus i don't know if it work well on the AS8, i think not

Try the upper leg of the large mosfet just above the green wire in the picture.

Looks like this mod is exactly the same as the AI7.

I thought I heard Hipro say it was like the IC7 boards where a resistor needed to be removed?

Yes, the vdimm mod for this board is the same as IC7. Remove R196 and solder a 200ohms trimmer. Raise resistance for more vdimm.

That is not what the first post says at all.

There is no mention of removing any resistor, and it states a 10ohm fixed resistor.

Ill find out in about an hour if Fed-Ex ever shows up.

    Great attitude, thanks a ton.

The MOD listed up top does work, just like on an AI7.

Next time, keep your obvious observations for yourself.

There are 2 ways to do the vdimm mod. One that The Stilt posted that is dependant on your vio, and one that is just like on the IC7, that you have more control over.

So why couldn't you have just said that the first time? I don;t understand the need for the attitude. It was a simple question, and I was just looking for a simple answer.

vio=3.3v rail. Not a stupid question, bro.

    @fishy,

Go back to your post and tell me if you were really asking me something. That really doesn't look like a question to me. It looks like someone trying to be a smartass. Sorry, bro, but that's the way I took it.

No, that's just a vdimm mod. To put more voltage thru the RAM.

Yes, if it is compatible with this board.
