One thing to mention... it's kind of like a sneak-peak at one of the contests within the contest.

I am going to ask the following question during the contest... and it will be for a $25 Gift Certificate to NewEgg.com. The most creative/funny/sneaky way will win the prize.

"What is the strangest way that you've borged someone's machine to increase your production for this contest?"

(and just to be clear, "borged" means "installed D²OL as a service so the owner of the machine doesn't really know it's there")

DISCLAIMER: Borging machines at work has been known to result in people getting fired. Be SURE you know what you are doing and/or ask permission before you attempt a borg. It's one thing to borg a friend's or family member's machine but do not blindly borg work related machines! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

get your self plastered and borg your own rig!!!!!!

Let all remember that we can't have members breaking any laws... If you even think that you or someone else could get in trouble don't do it!!!!!

30 P4's would be most welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT! Only if they are non-privately owned/restricted use/corporate/mission critical computers!

And let's just steer totally clear of corporate servers! Even if you have permission... the boss isn't going to be happy if you overheat and toast a server! Just don't do it... we need cpu cycles but we don't need them at the cost of personal/business loss.

Be smart... be clean... and be legit! If I read about someone from XS in the paper I'll hunt you down myself and slap the crap outta ya !!!!!!!!

.:EDIT:. Not pointed at you at all Blergo! I should have mentioned this first! I just don't want to see anyone get in trouble!

Here are some basic rules. I'm a bit brain-fried right now so I just can't come up with anything else. If there are obvious things I'm missing, please let me know. And if there are issues that you think should be addressed, just shoot me a PM and we'll discuss it.

I included the XtremeSystems.org statements because officially... I have not approached anybody associated with XS.org about this contest. The lack of negative response made me assume that this contest is ok with XS.org. I still would like to keep those statements in the official rules because I feel it promotes the "team" aspect. I also do not want anything to come back against XS.org in case someone does something extremely stupid with the water setup or the CPU and fries their computer(or God forbid... themselves).

So, after saying that, here are the basics...

    <Preliminary Rules> (work-in-progress)
    - Contest is open to anyone and everyone willing to participate in the D²OL project for XtremeSystems.org.
    - Contestants will earn ONE ticket per 250 conformers computed during the official contest which runs from 8PM(EDT) Friday, October 29th to 8PM(EST) Friday, November 5th.
    - On Saturday, November 6th all tickets will be put into a hat and my 4yr old son will pick the winners.
    - There will also be a couple prizes given away during the contest. Keep an eye on the D²OL forums for details during this time.

    - XtremeSystems.org is NOT associated with this contest in any way. It is being put on by the XS.org D²OL team FOR the XS.org D²OL team.
    - Prizes include shipping costs but do NOT include duties, import taxes, or any other costs associated with accepting a package in your country.
    - Prizes come with NO WARRANTY provided by myself or any other persons who donated to this contest... which includes XtremeSystems.org. (items may have a manufacturer warranty, just ask and we will be able to tell you)
    - You are entering this contest AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you are not willing to take 100% responsibility for the prizes you may win... please let me know and I will take you out of the contest. Anyone accepting a prize understands that myself and everyone associated with this contest can NOT be held responsible for any damage, injury, or death that occurs due to the prizes given away in this contest. Again... if you do not feel comfortable with this last statement... please let me know and I will remove you from the contest.

The contest starts at 8PM EDT(which is the time in New York) tonight. It is the same for everyone in the world except the people in EU have an extra prize(saaya's prize).
