FX-8350 Processor works in the CROSSHAIR IV EXTREME Bios Ver. 3027

I don't want to start a new thread for this question, and this is the most recent "Crosshair IV/ FX" compatability thread, so here goes. I noticed that when there was no overclock on my fx 8120 and CHIVF, there was no issue with throttling. I could even take it to 3.2Ghz with no throttling. Do you suspect that the situation would be the same with say a 4170, or 4300? I ask because I am building a computer for my parents, and I know that they won't be opening AMD overdrive to enable/disable turbo core everytime they use it, and even though they probably wouldn't notice the throttling, I can't live with it. Hope my question makes sense.

I have noticed that my FX-4170 sometimes does throttle when highly overclocked.

If you scroll back a some pages or use the search function you will find a thread featuring a small command line tool that can make some adjustments to the FX CPUs including disabling APM. You can create a batch file that runs the command line tool with appropriate parameters to disable APM etc and run the batch file at startup.

yes phasechange, i got it rocking now, took out 8350 back to my 1100T, i will wait for CH5 extreme board, hopfully
they will make one, them use my 8350

Get the Formula-Z. I don't believe an Extreme version will be released and that board has all the bells and whistles you'd ever need plus some.
