thanks for that
from JF's blog,he made this comment.
SourceInterlagos is a server part, there is no desktop variant. The client version of Bulldozer is Zambezi and it will launch in Q4.

Q4 2011 , I wish it's earlier than my birthday in Dec![]()
Can somebody point me to a announcement by AMD stating a earlier launch date? I guess there must be one that I missed since everyone is saying AMD keeps delaying there launch.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

someone already did the research.

It seems the article has been removed. I found this on Steam's forums.

Now the problem seems to dumped from the chip itself to the software(bios, drivers, etc), it's obvious that different stepping just have same performance according to some known tests, result are the same but conclusion is differ from before, which insist on the problem of chip itself. I think all related software won't be released until NDA lifted, since then, all chips include 'crippled' samples will receive performance boost. Maybe the chip can still has problem but the other factor's more complicated than we thought.
Bulldozer nuke'em forever
When i'm being paid i always do my job through.
By the time these chips finally arrive they will be irrelevant. This is disappointing to say the least.
quick - better sue over this![]()
I'm pretty sure SISoftware and AMD are really, really hating webcache right about now...
Whether or not these are actual benchmark numbers is anyone's guess but we have to remember:
- SiSoftware is always one of the first to receive final production samples for validation.
- This is a very reputable organization which doesn't benefit in any way by publishing phony results.
- The clock speeds listed line up perfectly with the latest rumors.
As with all things though, I recommend you don't make any assumptions until actual reviews are released.

Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
i swear all BD threads should be banned from the news section until A) NDA Lifts or B) BD launches...
Why is there such a large difference in memory controller speed,
Memory Controller Speed
AMD:2200MHz (11x200)
SB:3000MHz (30x100)
That seems huge to me out of the gate. Plus, theres no info on the processor at all, whether its a ES or production unit or MB details. Just not sure what to make of it.

that will probably be amd's stock clock obviously that should be enough to make up for most of those.

32nm Bulldozer with AVX went through:
1) Launch somewhere in 2011
2) Launch in second half 2011
3) Back to Launch somewhere in 2011
4) Launch in early Summer 2011 for desktop, late summer 2011 for Server
5) Shipping in August, Launch in September/October for both, due to an extra stepping needed
6) Shipping in August/September Launch in ....
And how does that compare with Sandy Bridge EP ?......

It was highly biased research and was fully refuted:

uh what. I won't make one because I'm not invested in this enough, but this page deserves its own thread. this is actual news.
just in case it disappears: bulldozer performs like nehalem. it is worse than sandy bridge in every way. the one test it wins, crypto, it loses when measured perf per clock.

i wouldnt read too much into those results, the Native Dhrystone/Whetstone benchmark looks way off, i googled a bit and found that amd x4 chips get around 50, and x6 chips get 70, so why would BD get only 54.64?

This seems a little out of line with what I've seen. Mostly in terms of which tests it wins in, because there are some places where sandy bridge will not will (h.264 encode/decode) which weren't mentioned in this.
I think that we have yet to see what bulldozer is capable of, but there have been a lot of old benchmarks floating around and most of them are on old silicon. If they have no proof that they're on final silicon at final clocks there's no way to gauge performance.
