    Crysis 2 1.8 Patch

This brings crysis2 to 1.8 ver.

    New Features
    • Added advanced graphics options
    • Added F1 to vote during vote kicks
    • Prematch mode for ranked servers added allowing people to fight on the map until sufficient players have joined for the ranked play to start
    • Upped the default score limits in some game modes:
    • - Crash Site has a limit of 175 (was 150)
    • - Team Instant Action has a limit of 75 (was 50)
    • - Instant Action has a limit of 30 (was 25)

    Fixes
    • Fixed vote kicking not working for players with certain characters in their name
    • Fixed ping display displaying 1000 for many servers in the PC server browser
    • Fixed issue where terrain would be rendered in black on some levels
    • Fixed single player save games with broken nano catalyst values (NB: This is for existing save games!)
    • Fixed under-barrel attachment HUD displaying incorrectly
    • Fixed minor 'Loadout Pro' exploit
    • Fixed issue with being melee'd during a ledge grab (which could lead to fly exploits)
    • Fixed some AI spawning issues in single player
    • Fixed rare crash in single player
    • Fixed an audio loop issue on the single player level "Semper Fi"
    • Fixed an issue with the DLC store which could lead to players not being able to access the purchase history tab. Players can now access this tab, and from there download their DLC straight into their game and have it auto installed for them
    • Fixed other cosmetic issues in the DLC store
    • Fixed Light Shotgun attachment skill assessment not being levelled up
    • Optimization to SSAO
    • Further Anti cheat improvements
    • Tweaked in-game audio dialogue (player taunts, announcements, etc) to be more diverse with more content for more events
    • Mystery dog tags unlocked whilst not connected to a server will now remain unlocked
    • Players that have rebooted will no longer be able to enter "New Recruits" servers

If i understand well, the patch don't add DX 11 but just more settings for graphics without using a third appliccations software .....

    I can be wrong, but it's what i have read on some forums .. ( i don't have C2 for try ) .

Didn't see any option explicitly stating DX11, nor a drop of fps in game... (I do have the "Advanced Graphics" option now.) Maybe my steam version is not up-to-date?

I stand corrected, there is no dx11 in 1.8.

Yep its not the DX11 patch, just a few minor bugfixes and ingame "advance options" and of course they locked it down even further.

TBH i don't care anymore if they release a DX11 patch or not... have uninstalled it a month ago or so, and probably won't bother to reinstall it...

Also flickering is back wit sli/cf if you choose anything then custom in the advance options... so far cryengine 3 is utter crap compared to cryengine 2...

DX11 taking so long has more to do with EA than anything...

That amount of tessellation may end up a big worry for AMD card holders though...think Hawx2 all over again.

It's standard tesselation level ... and it look made correctly ( aka non volumetric surface are not tesselated, only the parts who need it ) .. so i don't think it will be a problem .. well hard to say as they just present some features, and not a part of the game with thoses features applied ( i mean how it will look in the game ) . Then Crytek have surely use LOD tesselation and "dynamic /adaptative tesselation for reduce the impact and render it correctly ( don't forget they don't add only tesselation ) .

I will be more worried about some other features shown, who can start to ask a lot of driver optimisation (performance wise ), and if AMD don't have get a hand on it before the patch release, thing will maybe start to be complicate untill they can work on it .

I'll be perfectly blunt here: who the heck cares anymore?

Other than it being used as s trite marketing / PR stunt dog for some possible future DX11 patch, Crysis 2 has proven that Crytek:

    A) Doesn't give a hoot about the PC version so didn't give the necessary QA to the game.

    B) Has completely sold out to the console market in every way possible

So if we somehow get a DX11 patch, why should gamers really care? Judging from their track record, the patch will likely cause more issues limit options further and be release far too late.

Personally I'm loving the game and having a ball. I'd love to see some further DX11 tweaks. The game runs beautifully on my 30" w/2 GTX580's. Bring the DX11 Crytek.

The whole tessellation thing is one big nonsense. They cram 500 billion polygons on the screen and everything still looks like crap. If i want to cut my FPS in half i'd rather use higher FSAA levels than this nonsense no one can apparently implement properly. I mean what's the point of tessellation if faces still look all blocky, railings are still 8 sided pipes with some shading on it. Rocks are still 10 flat surfaces. And i'm talking 1-2m distances. So what's the point? They all brag about it but i can't see anything useful in it as far as any of the game using it are concerned. All it does is churn out more polygons where we don't need them and they make no difference. That's not the point of tessellation at all.

I'm pretty sure the point of any graphically intensive PC game is to push hardware, break things, and benchmark. Not for how it looks or how it plays. That's not really the point of the platform.

It was actually a joke, replying back to the joke that DX11 was held back because nvidia's 570 only has 1.2gb of ram.

I'm sure it'll run fine on both vendors, or so I'd hope at least.

Yeah, and I'm still waiting for 1.3 for Crysis, I bet we'll see the DX11 patch for Crysis 2 at around the same time.

I installed the patch and joined a multiplayer game. When I used mouse 2 for gun sight view it would be a completely different map. If I let off and went back to normal view it would then be the correct map. I played like this for a few minutes. Same thing over and over. I then restarted my computer and it is ok now. Very Strange.

no matter how long you wait for the dx11 patch it will always be too late. Dx11 should have came with the game. so even if it was released the day after release date, imo it will always be too late
