Tha main goal of this article,is to show a full performance comparison, between p67 and x58.
I used 2 different system and a full suite of benchmark.

thanks for the comparisons, what about with 980x system at 2:1 uncore/mem frequency ratio instead of at 22:12 uncore/mem frequency ratio ?

I used that ration to get more or less the same memory frequency as for p67, BTW i'll see to make some more test with different ratio

SB is really powerfull and kick 980X ass clock to clock....

...but coz of the fact that we will not see a 6GHz+ SB Gulftown still king for LN2 benching

But i want more detail on cpu->gpu gpu->cpu bandwith using pciespeedtest? but This need catalyst to be installed

I am suprised though I am somewhat of a novice to real overclocking, this is sort of a repost but it looks like from your tests Sandy Bridge is better, though the chipset does not have native SLI. Correct? I was considering the i7-980X chip you tested, though it apears Sandy Bridge may be the right choice. I plan to use the same video cards you did during testing in SLI. I thought the X58 would win to be honest though, especialy in the SLI tests. I see you tested with 4 cores for equal motherboard results. Also thought the tripple channel ram bandwith plus native SLI on the X58 chipset would prevail. Any clarification for me would be appreciated. Thank you guys in advance Guess Sandy Bridge is a monster?

There is no "native" SLI for Intel. SLI for Intel boards is merely a certifications license that manuf. have to pay nVidia 5usd per board. Same thing for crossfire, except crossfire certification/licensing is free

Sorry I didn't clarify, what I mean is X58 can run two PCIe2 @ X16 while the P67 can not? I thought it could only run two PCIe2 @ X8? Maybey I misread some information or misunderstood it. I guess what I mean is I thought the PCI-E at X16 on the X58 chipset board would own all over the P67 and it seems I am way wrong lol.

I am a bit confused as to what exactly this comparison wanted to show. I get that it is a 980X with 2 disabled cores, but it still has 12Mb L3 cache (which does matter in benches). So as if it was like an i7 920 with 12MB L3 cache which obviously does not exist... But anyways...

This want to show a clock to clock comparison between 2600k and i7.
But because i didn't have any 920 or 930 in my lab I used a gulftown with 2 disabled cores.
This was the nearest way to give an idea ti the users .
