    Unhappy Gecube X800Pro fan stops

Just got my beautiful Gecube X800Pro today. Did some last minute benchies of my Gigacube 9800PRO Extreme and just plucked in my X800Pro.

Start up pc and keep my eye n the X800Pro heatsink fan. It spins up at startup, then comes to a full halt by the time winxp pro's welcome screen comes up! Or sometimes seems the fan now doesn't spin up at all, just shakes back and forth with a little movement forward ???????

I thought maybe the power connector was loose, so double check and same happens again. Tried a different molex splitter cable and still the same problem.

Tried different molex on psu already as well

Any ideas or is it RMA time

    eva2000,

Time to take the card back mate....

Hopefully they (OZ distributors) won't blame you

Any of the late model cards should have their fan funning. full stop...

Hopefully within the 7 days that you bought it so that you should get a replacement for it straight away....

Didn't happen for me though....2 days after & I didn't get the GeCube 9800XT back for a month lol....

Good luck & C ya @ tha top of OCAU 3DMark Team....

    Cheers,

    Thanks

though there's no stock in OZ for Gecube X800Pro, mine only came in to the retailer (below-0.net) yesterday in small quantity and arrived today at my place... crosses fingers Shaun has a card or two left.

    eva2000,

Last I heard, KingMax were the OZ distributors for GeCube in OZ...

Checking KingMax OZ site, they still link to GeCube & in magazines (AtomicMPC), they're still GeCube distributor...

Checking GeCube for "where 2 buy?", I don't see KingMax listed....

Anyways, GL with your RMA mate... Sometimes ya need it...

My guess is you cooked the fan running high overclocks on the card. The lube evaporated and made the fan fail. In this case I'd take it back though, because it could be defective too.

    Thanks guys

Powercolor and Gecube seem to have more stock of X800Pro in OZ then other brands but that's still in quantities numbering in the dozen or less per shipment to OZ

Even though the x800 Pros are now more available than they were a month ago when I got mine, they still aren't plentiful. newegg still runs out of stock everytime they get them in.
