Asus updated their list of X6 capable Motherboards. Not all have bioses listed, but I think they put it up there to show which ones they are working on. You will have to select CPU->Phenom->xxx X6

MSI Technical Support revealed that the following beta bios is in testing and has Thuban support for the K9A2 Platinum:
    A7376AMS.1B0

Now, who can get it for us?

I just blew one of these boards running this BIOS with a 1055T @ 3.5GHz. Overclock with caution. I'm guessing the lack of VRM cooling is the problem.

    My 1055T arrives today.

Testing with my A780GM-A Ultra now .....

A little odd temperature measurement looks like 10ºC less than environment.

Oh, they FINALLY got around to it? I think I asked a month ago or so....

What limitations are there to OCing w/ this board over other boards? I know people obviously haven't used it, but will the bus wall be the ultimate issue?

I'd consider getting a 1090T over the 105T for the price since an unlocked multi would help OC more. I just wonder if the HT would limit performance vs SB750 & 850 chipsets....

    Simple math i think.
Thubans seem to do around 4 to 4.3 stable on air.
to get there with 1055T you need 285 to 307, most reasonable boards will do that ,even my crappy bios foxconn (exactly 307Mhz HTT stable ;-) . Besides the turbo multipliers are accessible ,so 16.5x, 242htt to 260 (pretty much every board will do that).
Lack of higher multipliers is really a problem mostly for people with water and up i think.
I would get 1035T ,but its nowhere to be seen..

I'd consider moving to a 6core for my k9a2, but I'm still wondering if I'd be bottlenecking a 5800 series video card if I upgraded in that direction as well due to the mobo limitations.

I've only gotten 15x250 on a deneb 945 on air. Not sure if the cpu has his a fsb wall or if it's the mobo.

XC, its mobo/bios/settings limitation for sure.Every amd cpu pretty much can do 300+.
As for the 5800 bottlenecking, i dont think so,when you crank up cpu to around 4ghz the bottleneck will be pretty much always a GFX.
And DDR2 isnt that much of a difference.0-10% at most.In real world of course, not bandwith benchmark ;-).
I got Thuban today, 1055T ,bios for my foxconn is really crappy with it.However i was able to benchmark truecrypt at 4.3ghz :-),hit 310HTT ,thats HIGHER than with 910 i had before.Weird.307 was my previous wall.

Makes me think it MAY be worth keeping my k9a2 plat and going Thuban.

I need a "testing" rig for networking purposes. A 945 would be insane overkill. If I can get a good AM3 board bundled for nothing w/ a 1090T, i'd be set. I would like to see some people running a 1055T. I' really like 4ghz. At the same time, liquid cooling this mobo is next to impossible w/o custom blocks.......... It's a toss up for me.

Thanks for the info though. I might drop a BE edition in here unless I get the urge to go WCing again.

The ETA that MSI tech support gave me for the K9A2 Platinum Thuban BIOS was end of June. But I don't have any confidence in this date ... it could be later or sooner than that.

been using it since mid june and ive just been to lazy to play with everything. and they could have run into problems with other ones that delayed this one.

Here the thread where I got the beta bios for the K9A2 Platinum. Don't give up on MSI just yet. I haven't tried it out myself since I don't have any AM2 processors to flash the bios with. So can someone with a 6 core Phenom give this s test and let us know if it works ok.

    Thanks in advance.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=250662&page=2

Also I have a question. Can I flash my K9A2 Platinum (to the new beta 6 core bios) while the Phenom X6 1055t is in the socket? Or do I have to use some other AM2 CPU to flash the K9A2 Platinum?

you will need another CPU, if you use an old bios then you just get a blinking spacebar on the screen and nothing else

and its working great, a few of us have OCed it aswell. although i have not tried much (im using stock cooling at half speed for slience, my water cooling is down for a little while)

Thank you for the reply. Looks like I've gotta pick up a AM2 CPU from ebay. Unless you know someone that's giving one away for free.

i have a 940 i dont use anymore, i might be able to ship it out and let you "rent" it
i live near philly and if i just send the cpu in that little plastic case using bubble wrap in a yellow envelop, it cant be more than 2$ to move it across the country

Just thought I'd chime in since this thread seems to be still going. I just checked MSI's website as I have been doing for the past month waiting for the 1b bios to come out, and sure enough I just checked tonight and it seems MSI has finally released thier 1b Bios for the K9A2 plat V1 on thier website. I've not installed it yet, but I'll be able to get running my WCG grid again shrotly providing it works alright.

    Cheers,

    Mike.
